Vegan perfumes
I gave Aubrey's Jade Spice a whirl, and it's a little too much for me-- delicious with oranges and sweet kitchen spices at first, but too strong, too much sillage, and it mellows into head-shop patchouli (which I hate on me, and which lasts for weeks on my coat). If you don't hate patchouli and you don't mind a fairly intense spice scent it may be for you. I think it's fairly androgynous, and possibly too masculine for me.
I'm interested in reviews of their non-patchouli scents (Ocean Waters, Musk --it's vegan--, and Light Citrus, since my husband hates so many of the components of Spring Floral). Anyone tried them? Or any other cruelty-free fragrances (masculine, feminine, or androgynous) that they love?
It's that shopping time of year...
On the other hand, I give an enthusiastic thumbs-up for their seabuckthorn oil serum. I've been fighting with rosacea for about two years, and an application or two of this dark yellow oil stops any breakouts of papules or rough patches for about two weeks! That's a good deal, in my book, since the expensive, harsh, and carcinogenic ointments prescribed by my doctor don't prevent breakouts if I miss one of the twice-daily applications.
My face is still ruddy and flushed all the time, but there's no pain, no itch, no patchiness, and no more worries about rhinophyma (I've got one LITTLE bump).
Thanks! I'll probably steer clear online and just see if I can find them to try in person, first (I don't mind sweet smells but florals can be way too not-me). ;D
Aubrey changed their fragrances & I'm bummed. I liked Angelica, Elyssian Fields & Wild Wind. None of these are available anymore!!!
>:(
Since I have been using Aubrey on my face, my skin has never been so nice!! BTW, I love the Sea Buckthorn lotion for all over. It moisturizes without feeling greasy.
i use vanilla extract! :D it smells sweet but not to sweet, you can also use the banana and those other flavors probably.
Hi :)
I just try to mix up my own combinations with essential oils. If you have any essential oils give it a try.... there are lots of recipes and you can mix a little at a time, so you won't waste much , if it turns out that you don't like it. Some of my favorite secents are clary sage, geranium and of course lavendar....
Vanilla extract was my first perfume as a young girl. I remember it being a little sticky, though.
I did some tinkering with homemade soaps and essential oils a few years ago and had lots of fun, but I also discovered that my perfumery talents are pretty plebian. :-\ I made lots of things that I was pleased to bathe in, but none that I really wanted to wear as cologne... that said, mmm, gardenias.
