Valentine's Day.

So, I'm vegan and my guy used to be vegan but now he's vegetarian. Anyway, I was thinking of making him chocolate rice krispy treats in the shape of hearts for V-day. I'm going to test my recipe first though and if it doesn't come out right, I want to have some back ups. What are some desserts you guys can recommend for me to make for him?
chocolate strawberry mini cupcakes (mini because they're cute :) )
hm..do you have vegan cupcakes take over the world?
meh. not important.
make the cupcakes, and while they're baking, make a strawberry filling like..this one:
2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced (frozen are fine too)
1/2 cup organic apple juice
1/4 cup organic unbleached granulated sugar
4 tsp. cornstarch
1/2 cup water (i always use a little less)
• Place the strawberries and apple juice in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 10 minutes, until the strawberries soften.
• While stirring, slowly add the sugar. Dissolve the cornstarch in the water and add to the saucepan. Heat until thickened, being careful not to boil.
• Remove from the heat. While still warm, blend briefly with a hand blender, creating the consistency of a very thick purée. If you do not have a hand blender, use a traditional blender instead.
• Refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour, until jelly-like.

then after the cupcakes have cooled, cut out a tiny cone from the center to create a well (this is where if you have vctotw, you could look at it for a better description of technique :p ), fill it with the filling, replace the cone and frost with the frosting from the above link, and drizzle with chocolate ganache for fanciness. the ganache is something like..3 tbsp c soy creamer heated til just below boiling, then stir in 1/3 c chocolate chips til melted.
it sounds complicated, but it's really not, i promise. :)
Does he like chocolate and mint? And things that are crazy-horrible for you? I made this for Valentine's last year:

Definitely delicious, and too rich not to have lots of leftovers. It wasn't heart-shaped, but I put rainbow sprinkles on it and that seemed to be good enough! :>
If all else fails, a wacky cake or cookies are always good sources of chocolate - and you could make those heart-shaped, or decorate them with something pink or red. There are tons of recipes on vegweb for those. For instance...
