Tomato powder??

I went to the supermarket today and something caught my eye in the spice section: Tomato Powder. It's kinda expensive for the amount you get, but I was curious. They suggest you add water to make tomato soup. I wonder if it would be a satisfactory sub for tomato paste, if I added a little water to a lot of powder. It's supposedly just dehydrated tomatoes.
Has anyone else ever seen/used this?
I've seen tomato powder/dehydrated tomato used to flavor crackers. I like to eat the seasoning that's left in the bottom of the bag. It has a nice strong tomato flavor, like sun dried tomatoes. I think it'd probably work to make tomato paste, but I don't know if it'd be worth the expense and the trouble depending on how much it costs. I would maybe use it in marinades or on bread or something (add it to garlic butter to make garlic bread?).
50 grammes (2 oz) cost me about a Euro. But I think it will go a long way as tomato paste, because you won't want much. Tomato paste is hard to get here so I will try this. It's worth the price to have it on hand in a form that's easier to handle than those tiny tins.
I will leave you know.
