guess what? they have EXACTLY the same ingredients-even in the same order. The only difference is that the sour cream is more liquid. I guess this means we can use them interchangeably! Good news for me because when I buy both one ends up sitting there and going bad.
Yay! Cream cheese on my baked potatoes!
Sour cream on bagels!
I noticed that and they taste exactly the same too.... What exactly is the differance anyway?
um, so i really do not like the flavor of these. they taste very... soy-ey or something. i use them, but i have to mix them up with other things in order to stomach them. which sucks. but i do have a question regarding the cream cheese:
in my local HFS there are 2 toffuti cream cheese packages which are literally IDENTICAL except that one has different colors from the other one. and one is like 20 cents more than the other. they're not flavored, they're not organic... i can't figure out the difference!
and that's weird that the sour cream has the same ingredients.

My HFS does the same thing with the sour cream. I don't get it and always get the cheaper one since they're the same thing. Also, I think they actually do taste like they're dairy counterparts. I guess its been so long since I've had the real things that I don't remember exactly how they taste. Just like all other animal products I used to eat.

well, i never ate sour cream before going vegan anyway, but the cream cheese just has this terrible aftertaste ( i did love me some cream cheese back in my pregan days ) that kind of gags me if i don't cover it up with other flavors. i think their ice cream has that same flavor. thank goodness for the cheese slices though.

one contains hydrogenated oils and the other is non-hydorgenated. From what I hear the hydrogenated one tastes better, but I get the non-hydrogenated because its healthier.
hmm i wonder which one i've been getting...
i didnt used to like these either. they are great for cooking though. i have found that if i season the cream cheese, like with herbamare or other savory thing, that its great! my dh also likes it with jelly to make a sweet english muffin or bagel.
try the recipe called "the sandwich that got my brother to eat tomatoes" and you might like it!

The yellow tub (cream cheese) is the one with non-hydrogenated oils. The blue tub (sour cream) is also non-hydrogenated.
I think this is right. It's been a while
;)b Very observant of you. So maybe you could just thin out the cream cheese a little, and have sour cream.
I have to agree with allularpunk. I've tried both the cream cheese and sour cream many different times over a span of time in many different things. I really dislike the flavor. I have seen another brand of cream cheese & sour cream, but haven't been willing to spend the money. Some day, maybe.
I recently bought Follow Your Heart brand cream cheese and sour cream. In a direct comparison of the later to Sour Supreme, I found I liked the flavor of Sour Supreme. It is tangy but creamy, smooth and soothing. Comparing Sour Supreme (which is now called Tofutti's Better than Sour Cream) to the Tofutti Better than Cream Cheese is odd. The sour cream is softer, more tangy and easy to blend smooth. The cream cheese is firm, with that hint of almost sweet cheese to it.
I rarely use them interchangeably. And if I do its the cream cheese for the sour cream in a warm recipe; either a white sauce or mashed potatoes.
I have to say I didn't really like either one. The cream cheese was too sweet and the sour cream had a funky after taste.
I actually like the flavor of the cream cheese, tastes just like the real thing to me.
I'm glad you shared this information, I have been bummed that I couldn't find the sour cream around here when all along it was sitting in my fridge.

Where can I find the ingredients? I love their cream cheese but hate their sour cream.
written on the label
the package of cream cheese that we bought didn't have the ingredients listed on the label....i thought that was kind of strange...it did say non-hydrogenated though....
That's funny - I never noticed that! Very observational 8-) I personally love their Sour Supreme and like it more than I liked real sour cream. It's making me hungry thinking about it.
