Those wonderful VegWeb recipes!
You know what I love about the recipes on VegWeb? Most (like 99%) of them are inexpensive and don't require the knowledge of a professional chef to prepare. And most of them don't take forever to prepare and cook, either.
Why? Because they are invented and tested by real people, with real, busy lives and limited budgets. Cookbooks can be wonderful inspirations, but by the time you buy the book (and they're not always cheap), and then run down some esoteric ingredient or rare spice that some of those professional chefs with staffs that write the books want you to include, well...you either leave it out or sigh and look for something simpler.
Several of the VW recipes in my box are part of my life now on a regular basis. And I love it when I can "unvent" something and share it with my friends.
Yeah, having so many wonderful amateur (and some more talented) vegan cooks on VW provides so many beautifully simple recipes... often it's just a case of "One day I threw this and this together, and they taste great! Try it!" Which can lead to new combinations that one wouldn't have necessarily thought of oneself. :)

So true! I know some people disagree, but I just think VWAV had too many recipes that had too many expensive ingredients.

YES! this is why I actually brag about this site to other people IRL, especially when they inquire about how I could possibly eat good food and still (try to) be vegan.
I recommend it to people because it's so much more than recipes posted online, it's got the added bonus of user-submitted photos and helpful reviews. I know I wouldn't know nearly as much as I do if I hadn't been able to see how other people handled or altered the recipes.
the cookies are the best things in the world. :D
and because it's real people trying the recipe on their unwitting omni peers, you know you can get YOUR omni family to eat it. some cookbook recipes are just too "oat groats and tempeh over quinoa" for my folks.
