Stoney field Farms O'SOY yogurt and reading labels!!!!

I am SOOOO mad about this that I can't sleep!!!!

I have been buying the above mentioned yogurt by the case for years! When I first found it, it said it was made in a facility that processed milk and I was OK with that (I just TRY not to picture milk sloshing around and landing in otherwise vegan food).  :P

ANYway, my 6.5 vegan (or so I thought!) son has one almost every night, and I use them in my smoothies. A friend was over last night reading the label and pointed out that it says it contains MILK!!!! The live active cultures are milk derived!

My questions are, how long has it said this, has it always had milk and was improperly labeled, and what do I do now?

I plan to contact the company and ask them this stuff, but now, what do I buy for my son? He doesn't like the Silk brand, and I don't know of any other vegan yogurt available around here.
He REALLY likes it and its a comfort food for him.  I don't want him eating this crap, but need to find a replacement. I still have about 18 of them in my fridge. I will probably let him finish those at least (don't like to be wasteful) but THEN WHAT????

I feel like I've been duped, miffed, blindfolded and beaten on the ass!!!!

Moral of this story:  even if you read a label once and its vegan, I guess you need to read the label every time you buy it, as the ingredients can change!! WTF!!!!

I've never seen the Nancy's brand. Where do you find that, Healthymomma?

We don't find Wildwood in our neck of the woods either. Our best option and favorite is Whole Soy, especially the cherry flavor (although some time back someone said that was their least favorite flavor--you'll just have to try it for yourself). At least they did recall the ones that were "tainted" with dairy and it shows they don't put dairy in it on purpose. Since I'm not allergic to dairy, I'd rather see a recall for dairy contamination than salmonella, e coli, etc. I don't want to eat dairy but at least it won't make me sick. Nevertheless, I am hoping eventually to find some Wildwood to try. I'm among those who have heard amazingly good things about it.

perhaps you could mix the remaining 18 with another brand, using more of the other brand each time until your son gets used to the taste of the new brand.

hey, that's exactly what we're doing with our cat right now-trying to get her on some better food. She seems to be liking it (or at least not noticing)! Maybe it will run in the family. thanks!
I haven't heard back from them, probably because I was sort of angry in my email.

I find it on Commercial Drive, here in Vancouver, BC. It is at Drive Organics and some Choices. It is so yummy and it is also sugar free! It is even labeled Vegan. Another great thing is that the containers are hard plastic, made to be reusable.

I've never seen Wildwood or Whole Soy around here, though perhaps Capers has it?

I just went to the Nancy's website that HM posted, and its really easy to search for a location near you. I just found out that about 5 places near me carry it! It's organcic and looks yummy. Can't wait to try it. Thanks HM!!!

Glad to share  :) I really really like it. I like blending the plain and adding fruit into it.... In other words, it makes a tasty smoothie.

I was at WF today and at the deli counter, ordering a "small" portion of a few things and noted that the "Vegan Curried Tofu" had honey in it!  I can't believe I compulsively read the label anyway (I usually trust WF because they label all the ingredients in everything... I mentioned it to the woman helping me and she immediately took the sign down and read it and was like, "woah, we can't label this vegan!" and a co-worker of hers made up some lame excuse about the corporation testing/asking around and it being ok to be labeled vegan for some reason.

The lady helping me sided with me-- she must have met some angry vegans in her lifetime behind that counter!  I was chill about it, just pointing out that some vegans would be really upset if they consumed that and then later found out it had honey in it...

I wonder if they put the "Vegan" label back on after I left?

On another note-- the vegan (yes I read the ingredients again) "turkey" breast with wild rice/cranberry stuffing is YUMMY.  I also was urged to take a menu and there's a 'Vegan Holiday Dinner" which consists of:
Hazelnut Cranberry Roast
Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes
Roasted Cinnamon Dusted Butternut Squash
Wile Rice with Cranberries and Ginger
Vegan Dinner Rolls
Chocolate Peppermint Mousse
$14.99/person

I'm totally getting it for myself for my dinners with the family!!  I can eat with them! YAY! (yes, too lazy to make my own. bleh.) ;)

You better snap that puppy up! Bookpapa and I were doing our weekly shopping at our WF last Saturday and they were having their holiday food tasting which was great...except there were only three things that were vegan being sampled and one of those was cut fruit. The other two were a stuffing and a gravy. They were good, but it would have been nice had they sampled out a little more. They WERE advertising a vegan Thanksgiving dinner for two with a rolled "turkey" (can't remember if it said what it was made out of), sides (not specified), stuffing and gravy, and vegan pecan pie. The price? $49. For two, mind you. Your options sound amazing.

Awww, bookmama!  I'm sorry to hear that!  I've never had a vegan holiday, so this will be fun!  The lady behind the counter let me sample the "turkey breast" or something, this new vegan thing.  Yummers.  It comes with vegan mushroom sauce too... haven't eaten it yet, probably tomorrow.  Love the WF!
I have until November 18h to order my personal vegan dinner... I'd better put that in my planner!

I've been buying that! Not too much though....my HFS sells it for $1.99 each. I sometimes find it at the discount store for .49 cents each. Then I go crazy on it!
