Spaghetti sauce that doesn't have High Fructose Corn Syrup in it

I found an inexpensive spaghetti sauce that claims to be organic (I don't believe 3/4ths of those claims) and has no HCFS. It's Hunt's Brand and it's in a "coated" steel can at H-E-B. It's on the very bottom shelf and it's really easy to overlook! I must have read the label on 50 jars and cans of sauce before I found it! I think it's really important for everybody to avoid HCFS so I thought I'd share my find! 8)
Hi TT :)
In an effort to cut out a lot of processed food out of my pantry, I realized that pasta sauce is the easiest to make, especially if you have a crock pot. :) This way you can control your own ingredients and make it however you want. It also keeps decently too. :)
I know it's easier getting cheaper, ready made pasta, but if you're looking out for what's going into you, it's a good alternative. I love pasta sauce so it's fun for me experimenting with different ingredients. I use either maple syrup or brown sugar to sweeten if needed.

I do plan on trying to make some tomato spaghetti sauce and canning it this summer when tomatoes come into season and are much cheaper than they are now. I need to keep some on hand for when it's DHs turn to cook and he's tired and wants to throw something together quick. I don't have time right now to make it any way because of some other stuff that's going on. My fridge is nearly over flowing with stuff so something I can keep on the pantry shelves is preferable. Right now also, I don't feel the need to cook everything myself but I still want to avoid HFCS. Someone had commented also on how hard it is to find prepared foods without the HFCS so I thought I'd share.
Pasta sauces are the easiest to make . Marinara , Can crushed tomatoes, olive oil, sliced garlic, diced onion, ground fennel , Italian herbs (dried), grated carrot for sweetness. Maybe 10 minutes to cook. About the same time it takes to cook the pasta.

I'll keep that in mind, next time I cook with pasta sauce. Sometimes with my DH all he wants to do is open the can or jar and dump it into a pan. No slicing or diceing, no grinding of herbs (I've only found whole fennel seeds), or grating. I don't get a salad on those nights unless I make it myself which defeats the purpose of **his** night to cook!
Meh... speghetti sauce is supposed to be easy to make, but I have never come up with one that I like. And I grew up eating my mother's home made speghetti sauce which I thought was nasty, lusting after the jarred stuff all the while, so I think I have an inner child who NEEDS store-bought speghetti sauce.
I don't find it hard to find sauce without HFCS, though. We don't buy anything with that in it so I am quite the label reader and there are a lot of suitable sauces out there. I do like the type of sauce you mention, however, because I find the canned sauces, as opposed to the jarred ones, have less chunks in them. I can't stand chunks of tomatoes so when I buy the jarred stuff, I run it through the blender to make it smooth and runny.
I have weird texture hang-ups...
