I can no longer eat soy because I am still breastfeeding a baby with a soy allergy....I'm getting a little sick of rice and beans...if you know what I mean..............I have a super sweet tooth that hasn't been getting it's fix and I have an open mind for experimenting with recipes!!!!!!
Help me!!!!! :o
oh, and if anyone else has this problem I have already made the easy blueberry muffin on this site aand used some hempseed milk instead of soymilk and they were yummy!!!!! :)>>>
Field Roast are soy-free. They make good faux lunch meats and sausages and stuff. Try the Apple Sage Sausage. It's to die for.
i make my own ice cream using almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds, whatever i have around. those make the milk, then i add in some cacao, bananas maybe, agave and ice. ice cream! yum!
thanks for replying! I will try those sausages!
do I use the seitan in place of tofu?..(maybe thats a dumb question but I've never tried it,,,)
as for cravings...naughty desserts especially! i tried the easy chocolate cake recipe on this sitee and it turned out super good!!!!!! I would love to be able to make frosting of some sort, cookies, pudding, etc......but these may not be possible.....(can you tell i haven't had much sugar lately?!!!!)
o and any advice is sooooooooo appreciated, thanks again!!!

i eat very little soy and am huge on sweets.
with frosting you can use a non-dairy milk and margarine (do you have access to one without soy?) and powdered sugar.
cookies? i know that there are recipes with oil, just do a non-soy oil and choc chips sans soy. i know i have an 'allergen free' brand at my local hfs.
brownies
pie
smoothies
i also make ice cream like kelsi
fudge?
Pretty much everything you can find in soy (ice cream, spreads, milks, etc.) also comes in rice, almond, hemp, etc.
thanks for the info!!!!
does anyone know brands of soy-free margarine, almond milk or rice milk? my baby reacts to even thee smallest amount in my milk....
or could anyone tell me the easiest way to make my own nut milks?
thanks again!

if you have a high speed blender, you can make it really simply. just blend and then strain with a cheesecloth. i actually dont even strain. i just use the milk with the little bits of nuts and seeds in it. i dont drink it plain though. i only cook with it. anyways. heres the recipes.
sesame milk
3/4 c sesame seeds
2 c water
rice milk
1/2 c brown rice cooked
2 c water
1/2-1 T sweetener
sunflower seed
3/4 c sunflower seeds
2 1/2 c water
almond or cashews
1 c raw almonds or cashews
3 c water
sweetener (optional)
i got all that out of the vitamix cookbook.
Check out a raw food website such as goneraw.com (got that website by hiimkelsi btw on another post. Thanks! Great website!) They have recipes for frostings and desserts that don't contain soy (most contain nuts). I don't know if you're into the whole raw thing but you don't have to use all raw ingredients and can substitute things to make recipes your own.
Good luck and happy baby times! :D
thanks soooo much everyone!
These chocolate chips are both dairy and soy-free: http://www.allergygrocery.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AG&Product_Code=1187
I've seen them at Whole Foods from time to time.
The Whole Foods brand of dark Swiss chocolate is also dairy and soy-free (it's in a maroon and white wrapper). It's great for melting down and covering strawberries or candies. You could make the peanut butter cups on this site using that chocolate and a natural peanut butter!
A favorite non-guilty dessert of mine is the avocado banana pudding on here. You just blend up a ripe avocado, a banana or two (depending on how banana-ey you want it), some agave nectar, and a "milk" of some sort and yummy! Healthy, too!
And I think it was healthymomma that mentioned using coconut oil instead of margarine for baking. I haven't found a single dairy- and soy-free margarine, so oils will be your best bet.
oh thank you, thank you!!!! :D
