Is Silk Soymilk Vegan?

I have been drinking Silk Soymilk for about 2 years now (I love the stuff) and recently I decided to become vegan, switching from vegetarian.  But when reading the label on Silk I noticed an ingrediant that was a long word beginning with C, which I can't remember what the word was.  It says on the website that it is vegan, but I am not so sure.  Could somebody back me up?  Silk does not say on the package that it is vegan, but Vitasoy soymilk does, and I would think that if it was, then they would want to put it on the package to appeal to the vegans out there.  I am so confused.

I copied this from www.silksoymilk.com:

Are Silk products vegan?
Yes, completely! There are no animal derivatives hidden in any of the ingredients. The lactic acid and live cultures used in Silk soy yogurt come from a vegetable source. All vitamins used to fortify Silk Soymilk are derived from vegetable sources including calcium carbonate that comes from limestone.

No it wasn't calcium carbonate, it was one word, Casereen or something like that.  It wasn't Casien, becuase I know that that is a milk derevative, but it was longer than that word.  Ugh, I went to Silk's website but they don't list an ingredient list anywhere on there.  Does anybody have a ingredient list they could look at for me????

Aha I found it!!!!

carrageenan

What is carrageenan?  This is in Silk, and is in Almond Breeze.  My two favorite milks, and this ingredient is not in Vitasoy which is labeled as vegan.  I am going to look this one up.

Okay, so I am very impatient and don't feel like working today.

Carageenan comes from seaweed.  So I answered my own question, yes, Silk soymilk is vegan.
