Rice bran for wheat bran?
I wanted to make some bran muffins to take to work to stave off any desires to snack on the copious amounts of white bread in the vacinity but, alas, when looking at whole foods for wheat bran, they were out! I picked up some rice bran instead thinking it must be somewhat similar and the back of the box has a recipe for rice bran muffins, a good sign in my book.
Has anyone had luck subbing one for the other? I'm pretty sure I'm going to go ahead and try but wanted to know if you all had any advice!
(also- the new/updated search is fantastic.. I searched rice bran and one of the results was this post about fruit sealed with beeswaxhttp://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=20476.0 i had to read it to figure out where rice bran came into play.. it was mentioned once, talking about rice bran wax in chap stick. fantastic.)
i'd give it a go, especially if there's a recipe on the box/package. I'd be interested in hearing how they turn out.
you got me wanting some bran muffins with all your talk ... I did the "versatile bran muffins" at the w/end (review posted!) which have gone down a treat.
