Potato mystery!

I admit that it's probably not,but it mystifies me.
I love micro "baked" potatoes. I put a pierced potatt in the microwave, and it feels heavy for its size. Then you pull it out when it's done...and it feels a lot lighter.
Granted, some of the moisture boils away (or whatever) as steam, but enough to lose weight? I should weigh a raw tater and then reweigh it when it's done. Has anyone already done this?
Or is it just me?

It is, too. 314 grammes raw, 261 grammes after 7 min in the microwave.
:o
Where did it all go?

I imagine it is water weight.  The microwave is also full of steam when you are done cooking, right?

No, none. That's why I am so surprised. I mean, yeah, the potato releases a little steam when you cut it open, but no bid cloud or anything, just normal for hot food.

1) potato gnomes.

2) they have some plastic-sealed potatoes at the grocery store for microwaving. i wonder if these would lose weight, since they're sort of sealed.

It's water weight....and the reason you don't see steam in the micro is because all the water weight from every potato ever cooked goes straight to me hips. So you see.... I look chubby.....but really I am just like a potato water cloud of love.
