Lilias' brown rice casserole??

Does anyone remember the 70's TV programme, "Lilias, Yoga and You" on PBS from the 70's?? I found the show when I was about 10. Somehow my mother was convinced to order the little booklet that went with the programme and I found my first-ever vegetarian recipe inside--the one with a curious substance called "brown" rice. Brown rice?  In rural America in the early 70's that was just so unusual! I actually had to travel to a university town to find that one! I made the recipe and it was my first encounter with vegetarian food...which I decidedly liked! And I've lost the recipe and wish I could get it back! I think it contained eggs...and I think it was baked in the oven...but I'm not sure about anything. I'm ovolacto so the eggs aren't a problem.
If anybody has this recipe please post it!

This might be the booklet:

Thanks T but I can't order stuff online...no plastic. I just was hoping someone had the recipe. After 34 yrs it's probably considered in the public domain... :D

I went online to see if our local library had it.. no luck.  But I did find several video recordings with similar titles by a lady named  Lilias M. Folan. Is this the same lady?  Maybe you'll have better luck searching with the lady's last name?

Yes, that's Lilias...I did the websearch thing and found her website and even sent her an email about it...no reply. Ah well. I was just hoping somebody had hung onto their 1970's copy and had the recipe to hand. Never mind.

Do you remember what it looked like?  Did it look like this?

I know you can't order anything online, but at least we know what it looks like if this is the right one!

;D  I don't want you to think I'm weird so just forget about the post that used to be here.

Yup, apstaats, Image 2 is the one. And T, I don't think you're weird. I think my DH is weird that he can have the use of the plastic and I can't. But we won't go there. I choose my battles...
Anyway if anyone HAS got it please post the recipe!!

Hey, I don't remember that post being weird!  I was thinking that I would buy it for myself and post the recipe here.  After your post, TinTexas, I thought, "Wow, how generous.  And I was going to keep the book for myself!"

At any rate, I would be happy to buy the book solely to share the recipe.  I'd send it to you, but I don't know your address or how expensive it is to ship overseas  :P

I am about to order some stuff from Amazon, so if I don't hear anything else here before then, I'll go ahead and pick this up too.

I was afraid that since she had posted in other threads since I made that post but not responded to that one, that she thought it was weird that I would make that offer since we only know each other through the internet here.  The question still remains is that the right book?  You can get it used through Amazon for less than $3, but probably not the best copy.  I think there's a European/UK version of Amazon that the shipping wouldn't be too high at.  It is after all the world wide web.

I just sent an e-mail to the seller.  Maybe he will work out a deal with me!    :)  Cross your fingers!

apstaats, you can email me at lachimpa40ATyaHoOdot CO doT uk, if you can sort that addy out, and I could email you-personally my snail addy. Maybe we can work a trade, I could send you equivalent Euros or some earrings or summat. Thank you for caring enough to enquire!
I used to have the Lilias book in Image 2 on the Amazon page, then when my older sister was post-partum and trying to get into shape, I sent it to her from here (that's how much I loved the book and memories of the show, I made sure it came with me)...later on when the split happened I lost the book. The sad part is she has probably trashed it long ago. Sigh. Pearls before swine. Be careful where you put your bringers of precious memories, girls.

The seller was so nice!  He scanned the page and sent it to me.  Hopefully, it's OK for me to post it here.  If this is the right recipe, it's gonna need some veganizing!  Let me know if this is the one.

Ohhh golly, I feel like Charlie Brown: THAT'S IT!! (While Lucy tumbles head over heels from the force of the yell.)  ;D ;D
It's kinda blurry when you zoom in, but I see it wasn't her original recipe either, she copied it from another book...golly how these things get around, LOL.
I'm ovolacto so I don't have a problem with the eggs. But (sniff, sniff) we don't have pecans here, so I'll have to use walnuts...
I didn't remember at all what was in it...gee, black olives, one of my faves...no wonder I remembered it as "delicious"!

Yay!

Is it too blurry to read?

It was *awfully* blurry but hey, I've worked with dislexic students and as a transcriber of 17th century Spanish (written with a quill pen in "chained" script) at the Archive of the Indies, so with that and my memories of the dish I was able to suss it out. You're right, it is very much NOT vegan, with all the eggs (5 is too many! :o), yogurt, and milk in there, as well as the cheese. I was shocked to see oil AND margarine! Have a little fat!
I don't know how you could veganise it, but as I'm ovolacto I'll manage it...think I'll cut back on the eggs though. I remember now, I had never used brown rice OR tarragon before. Now, I think I would prefer chives, or maybe rosemary.
My very first vegetarian dish. Thank you Apstaats, for that blast from the past!!  :-*  :) 8) Email me...sorry about the addy obfuscation but I was being careful. I owe ya one!
