holy junk. i might splurge. who knows. agh. lol thanks guys!
what - 25? see if you can find it locally at an asian grocery (most likely japanese) if you've got one. Matcha is its Japanese name, so someone'll probably know what you're talking about. It might also be spelled maccha or mat-cha (cha = tea), though. The prices I usually see are 7-11.
Or... if the baristas at starbucks are cool... you could maybe get a drink's worth by itself in a short cup for the cost of adding it to a drink. Adding a flavor is 30-40 cents, and they *might* be nice and give you a lot. I used to sell matcha like that for customers who just wanted the hot tea rather than a latte or whatever.

I think that the green tea powder they use there is a latte mix with dairy/ sweetener in it :[
Theres no dairy in their matcha. Its just the matcha and sugar.
If it's Japanese tea, then it's going to be expensive. The Japanese are snobs about their tea like the French are about wine, but a good quality Japanese tea is expensive.
I think the brand I bought was from Taiwan, not Japan. But remember a little goes a long way in pure powdered green tea with no additives.
Thanks for the hint FB about putting it in the frige. I'm going to do that.
Yeah, matcha is pretty powerful, I usually used 1tsp of it each time I used it.
yup, just matcha and sugar in the tazo matcha stuff. the green tea latte is made by:
matcha powder (matcha + sugar)
classic syrup
hot water
steamed milk of choice
PEOPLE! i just scored a free bag of match from my starbucks!!! my friend and i went in and were talking to the guy about how we could't find matcha anywhere and how it would be a great idea if they sold it and he goes "hold on" and comes back with a big bag of it and just gves it to us. agh! :D i'm so happy right now. me and my friend are gonna split it, but i'm just so excited that i own some!
That's awesome, vh!!!!!
thanks!! i wanna go make a frap right now!!! lol
score!
What recipe are you using to make the frap?
i used this recipe and it was really good:

well, obviously veganized. i just used almond milk for half and half and no sugar because the milk was vanilla flavored and already sweet.
Lol. I attempted one the other day. My magic bullet couldn't deal with the ice? Maybe because my ice cubes are giant.
cool. I thought of taking a bag of that too at some point, but I wound up just stealing it little by little. It was hard to imagine that I'd use that much matcha.
On my last day, I took home a container of... many things. It was no secret. The shift supervisor even reminded me to take some strawberry sauce and oat bars, and then asked me if I could package up some caramel sauce for him.
lmfao!!! fb, that's awesome
This is why I like starbucks.
Like my billions of free chocolate curls.
Thanks vh, I want to try this as soon as I get my hands on some matcha. :)
I like when they mess up your order and then they redo it and give you both of them and only charge you for one. It's even better when they've just opened and they're just starting to train everyone and they mess your order up twice so you get 3 for the price of one. Yes, that did happen to me before and it was awesome! I don't get free stuff like that though :-\
