just became a born again again vegan,
was vegan a few years ago, so now i'm back and loving it. but here's the skinny-
i went to local heath food store (i live in the country -kinda of) and they said they didn't stock the silken coffee cream substitute anymore because the company was bought out by Monsanto (nasty evil GMO chemical company) and it is no longer organic and some of the soy beans are also source from china,
so what do i put in my coffee and tea now??
come on people- were talking about my morning coffee!!! it's pretty close to home!!!
good to be here! thanks for your help and great recipes. i'll have to post some of my vegan favs.
ps- tilled the garden today!!!! :)>>>
Ask them if they're interested in carrying Mimic Creme. It's made from nuts. I drink barley coffee (non-caffeinated) and use Almond Breeze unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
How about using a nondairy milk? I just use plain unsweetened soymilk in my coffee. There are so many options, I'm sure you could find comething you like.

Drink that shit black like a real man.
I like coconut milk in my coffee. You can get it in powdered form too.
Drink that shit black like a real man.
hahaha, i second that motion!
to the folk who said about non-dairy milk in my coffee... it curdles :(
to the drink it black and be a real man thing.......nice one! ;)
thanks for the genital ribbing. much love to everyone, and i will talk to my local retailer of health foods about mimiccreme.
:P
I added Silk Almond Milk (the 32 oz. kind in the refrigerated section, NOT aseptic) to my coffee this morning, just to try a regular non-dairy milk (as opposed to creamer) and it didn't curdle. Maybe try a different brand? I liked this particular brand--it's slightly sweetened and pretty creamy. Just throwing that out there.
I believe that though most Silk varieties are no longer organic, they are still GMO-free. The original company, WhiteWave, was bought by Dean a number of years ago (a big dairy/other things not vegan producer). Monsanto makes GMO seeds.... so, I don't think they're involved in this.

While it is true that the majority of soy grown in the US is GMO, most of the soy is also fed to farmed animals, so it doesn't necessarily mean that every non-organic soy product on the shelf is GMO.
