Can you freeze avocado stuffs?

So today I got a kilo of avocados for 1 Euro...they're ripe and he wanted to move them. However DH won't touch them. Can I freeze the flesh as-is, in puree, and/or make it up into something? Is there such a thing as avocado pudding? I suppose I'd have to add lemon juice to avoid the puree turning black.

Advice?

yabbitgirl~ On a thread I started 101 uses for avocados someone put up a recipe for chocolate avocado pudding. Haven't had the time to try it out, but it did sound yummy ;)

Yeah, but can you FREEZE them, that's the question. If I just gorge on them I'll gain huge poundage.

I read somewhere that you can free them and then use them in smoothies and the like.  I'm not sure how well they would taste in guacamole after being frozen though.  They would most likely turn brown unless you tossed them in lemon juice.

Yeah, the general consensus seems to be freezing them mashed up with lemon. Which is good because then I can make portions for toast etc.

I know Trader Joes sells frozen avocado halves, so it must be doable.

I was just wondering this too. my avocados went ripe to quickly, so know I need to make my sauces and dips and freeze them.....I hope it works...

I will some times throw the avocados in the fridge to slow down the ripening.  It is probably a bad thing to do but I have not had any problems doing it.

I freeze guacamole all the time. Nothing changes (color/texture/taste)!

I'm sure you could peel and pit them and freeze the halves.

I think I'll try to frozen halves as opposed to the frozen products themselves (mostly because I'm too lazy to feel like  makin a million avacado dips/dressings right now) I was thinking of halving them, scoring them (into like chunks but where they're still attached to the skin) and freezing them.... that way I can pop em out like little cubes. I'll have a full report on my success in a week or two lol.
