I have some, and I've had it for a while...and it wasn't until recently that I wondered how I should have been storing it. So. What do you all do with your dry nutritional yeast?
I store it in a jar at room temperature..I only store my baking yeast in the fridge.
in the fridge for me! ;)b
my house is sliding off the foundation, so we have endless amounts of ants and bugs, they ruined my baking stuff once, they've not gonna ruin my precious nooch. :nono:
Mine's in a container in the cabinet. No probs.
I store mine in the fridge. Nutritional yeast can lose some of its vitamin content in warmer temperatures so it's best to store it in the fridge or tightly sealed in the freezer in a ziptop bag.
In Michigan where it was cooler I stored mine in a dark cupboard....done here in Texas I keep it in the fridge.
I store my ny in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
I store mine in the fridge, too. Mostly because my HFS sells it in the refrigerated section...so I thought that was where it belonged.
Our store has it in the bulk department..in a regular bin (not refrigerated).

Well, that's just :D, SB!
I store mine in the frig.
Does anyone know how long it lasts when refrigerated?
(I don't seem to go through it very fast)
i store mine in my cabinets usually but i'm out of all things vegan right now. also, we've been having ma jor moth issues with the cabinets :(. I think a lot of vegans out there store their yeast in the refrigerator.
We have this problem too :( Everything is stored in air tight containers in my house, and things that aren't tend to get mothy. It's so absolutely repugnant.
That said, I have 3 jars of nutritional yeast in the cabinet. 2 are mostly empty, one is mostly full. I really need to consolidate...
I have mine in a screwtop airtight plastic container in the freezer right now, BUT I have stored it in the cabinets in other homes with nary a problem. I used to keep it in a plastic bag in an old oatmeal box in the cupboard, with vital wheat gluten in another plastic bag, if that's any indication.
My house is always fairly cool and temperate so I stor it in the kitchen in its little shaker container. I use it every day!
hmmmm.... thanks for all the responses! the fence seems pretty split... so after much consideration, I believe I have opted for an airtight container in the fridge ~^_^~
