Bananas and Applesauce

I know that in a lot of recipes bananas are used but I usually don't have those on hand at the house but applesauce is usually lying around somewhere. How much applesauce makes for a good substitute for bananas? Please help.
It really depends on the recipe. Depending on the recipe, you only need 1/4 to 1/2 cup of applesauce.
So about 1/3 of cup is the average then (its right in between 1/4 and 1/2)? Thanks I had a feeling it was somewhere around there and I'll play with it until I get it right.
Yeah, you need to guesstimate because it depends on the sauce. I make my own, and it depends on what kind of apples I used and how juicy they were how they react with the other ingredients. We can't get pre-made applesauce here. I suppose if you stuck with one brand you'd know where you are.
