Do we have an VW-ers in or around Philadelphia? I am here for a few weeks, so if there are, we should meet up! There is a vegan restaurant I want to go to but it remains to be seen whether or not I can get people to come.

I want to move to seattle! But unfortunately, grad school is still a year or two away...i'll come visit if everything works out!

I don't really know if I'm 4'10" or 4'11". I haven't had my height measured in years. I'm pretty sure it's at least 4'11". But I'm taller than 4'8", like you thought that one time.... ::)

Always remember good things come in small packages! I am 5'7". My BF thinks he is about 5'5". No way as I am at least 3 or 4 inches taller than him.

KMK, if you are in the Philly area can you please stop by Ray's Seitan and use all of your considerable charm to find out how in the heck they get the seitan to be that way?
All of the seitan from Blossom and the Candle restaurants in NYC that everyone raves about comes from Rays. I don't know how they do it.

So how are you liking Philly Kate? What section are you in? Are you working in a school?
Philly is.....not my favorite city. Not gonna lie. I am in the northern part, I think. Staying at Temple. It's, well, city-ish. I mean, there's a reason why TFA is doing summer school here. I'm glad to be able to help the kids. I had my kids write their goal for life, and one of them wrote, "Get out of Philly. It's crazy out there." I'm not really a city person at all, though. I did spend the Fourth in downtown Philly seeing John Legend, which was fabulous. I like all the historical stuff that Philly has to offer, though. And on Sunday some friends and I are going to take a run to the Rocky steps!

hehehe one of my best friends is 4' 11" I think probably closer to 4'10" but she likes to say she is taller...it was kinda funny cause one time someone asked her her height and she said 4'12" and the person said "oh you mean 5 feet" and she said no, 4'12"...
I have a photo with her where I look like a giant next to her and im only 5'4".

Oh My God you are in North Philly? No wonder you don't like it. Temple is a terrible area. I'm so sorry. But I guess in a program like that they are going to bring you to the areas that need the most help. If you can get out into center city for some free time, I'd be happy to take you around to some nice areas so you get a better sense of Philly all around.
Yes, Temple is the bad part. You need to go to old city or southstreet. I'm sure you will like the art museum area. There is a nice park behind it with a 8 1/2 mile loop around the river. Nice for running. The art museum is also free on sundays, so you can bring a change of clothes & go in after your run if you want. One of the boat houses has a nice public bathroom.
OK, yes, I figured as much. I mean, it IS the point to get us where help is needed, yup. I will have to explore some more!
