Popcorn Discovery!

Ok... wasn't sure where to put this, but I'm so excited I have to share

So, I can not find PLAIN (aka vegan) microwave popcorn anywhere near me.  I take that back. I found 1 box. It was like $7.  And I hate popping it on the stove because it's messy and scary and I don't like all that oil!

So I thought about it. Microwave popcorn= paper bag + pop corn kernels.... so i put some popcorn kernels in a paper bag, folded it tight, and pushed the popcorn button.

Lo and behold, i know have plain, not greasy, cheap, fast vegan popcorns. I am so happy. ~^_^~

I have heard of that before fufu, on vw, I think.  I wasn't quite sure it was as simple as it sounded.  I may try it now that you said it works too.  :)

yeah, just keep an eye on it. Most of my 1/3 cup of kernels popped!

just tape it, microwave about 4 minutes.

I just buy the Redenbacher's (spelling?) natural, simply salted popcorn with the coupons in the paper. But seeing that this works out, I might just do it. Much cheaper!

Any popcorn will pop in the microwave if you put it, with no oil or butter, in a large glass bowl with a tight cover of plastic wrap. Pierce one hole with a toothpick for steam to escape, and microwave until the corn is popped.

i like that idea too!  I am just so happy about this whole discovery because poppin it on the stove always resulted in some really burnt ones, and oily ones, and it was so scary.....

This is great news; thanks fufu!

I love microwave popcorn but hate the oily feeling/flavour it leaves in my mouth. Problem solved!

I'd like to add to the list of popcorn discoveries:
cumin seeds will make (cumin) popcorn. I learned this while dry toasting some cumin on the stovetop. I didn't have enough pop that I could tell if they taste like cumin, though...
