If you remember a few weeks ago, I was testing cupcakes to make for my soon-to-be sister in law's bridal shower. Well, the bridal shower is over and I thought you'd like to see a pic of the 3 dozen cupcakes I made (cookies 'n cream, sexy low fat vanilla, and coconut lime--all from VCTOTW). They were all gone at the end of the shower (there were 24 guests).

Oh and my attempt at a fruit bouquet. . .
Here are some close ups of the cupcakes:
Sexy lowfat vanilla.
OMG !!! that fruit bouquet is absolutely beautiful!!!!
i wish i had vegan friends for my bridal shower!! :(
Wow, you did a gorgeous job! I wish I had been invited! ;) It's really sweet that you took the time to make all these special treats for your friend.
I'll have to try some of the other cupcakes from VCTOtW now! So far my family has been stuck on the basic chocolate ones...we are chocoholics! :D
Spectacular! You have become an expert. I'm so impressed. It ALL looks wonderful. Congratulations on showing folks just how yummy vegan cupcakes (and fruit bouquets) can be.
If I remember a few weeks ago??? I still daydream about the first set of cupcake photos you showed up. The final product looks just as good and the fruit bouquet is awesome. What kind of "skewer" did you use?
Thanks everyone...it was a fun shower!
What kind of "skewer" did you use?
Just a pack of wooden skewers. If I had to do it over again, I'd make sure that both ends were pointy. Only one end was pointy and the other was blunt in the pack I used. I'd also get some thicker, more heavy duty skewers. As you can see by the end they were sort of "wilting." Some even fell out. The biggest difficulty was keeping the whole thing from toppling over. Next time I make a bouquet, I'm going to spend more time making sure the base (in this case, pinapple) is perfectly level and more time putting the skewers in evenly over the surface. If you'll noice, I had to put it in a glass bowl and wedge limes and kiwi in to make sure it didn't topple.

very lovely. i dream of someday having a reason to make so many fancy cupcakes. aww... someday i guess.
Who needs a reason?!? Just do it! :D
While not as elaborate as your efforts for the wedding shower, bookmama made some VCTOtW basic mini cupcakes with chocolate ganache in honor of Unity mother's on Mother's Day. They were beautiful & most attendees ate those before even looking around at the other offerings ... many even said that her vegan cupcakes were better than any non-vegan ones they ever had ... all of those VCTOtW cupcakes look yummy ... ready for the next batch bookmama (or is it my turn now?).
baypuppy really enjoys her sweets and will eat them all if she makes them
bookmama does, too, baypuppy. Alas.
Actually, I had cupcakes on my weekend cooking list but ended up making Ashley Kimball's Strawberry-Rhubarb Crumble. Yum-ee. Cupcakes will be back on the cooking list for next weekend, though.
Those are beautiful! I have an idea as to what I'm making for my sisters when we do the bridesmaid fitting later this summer! Boy, I should practice my presentation skills, tho. ;)
I seriously need that book!
After hopfrog's first pictures I drove to the bookstore that same day and bought VCTOTW. I think she's a secret advertising plant. ;)
They look scrumptious.
bookmama does, too, baypuppy.
is this the your secret for looking so youthful? ***runs to make some cupcakes***
Baypuppy ... bookmama & bookpapa try to enjoy life as much as possible between life challenges ... improving what we can in our lives & enjoying/helping family & friends (you're included) ... at our ages, we are doing what we can to grow younger as the years pass by ... an example is this pic of a recent photo shoot that we went on with my brother & sister around the Valparaiso, Florida point where my parents live ... bookmama & I are taking a break - sitting looking out across Choctawhatchee Bay toward Destin, Florida when my brother, Bill, snapped this photo:
I just flipped through Isa's book today at the bookstore. Baypuppy's right. They do look very professional like right from the book, ... little edible works of art. Thanks for the inspiration.
I respectively request that you not post these incredible, delectable, edible photos again...not unless you are needing help actually eating these things! LOL
I have VCTOTW and I guess I am using it this weekend as your cupcakes were calling my name. I have been telling them to SHUT UP for the best part of 2 days.
Hopfrog, your cupcakes are gorgeous! I am inspired! My little sister is getting married in March and I'm her marton of honor (although, I prefer MAID of honor, matron makes me sounds old!) After seeing your beautiful work, I am even more excited about throwing her a bridal shower!!!!
PS Bookpapa and Bookmama, you are such a cute, lovely couple!
