I agree, train at hospitals! They are understaffed anyway and could use the help! Humans have no right to treat animals like that!

are they going to save the pigs? or just eat them afterwards?
they should go train in a hospital that gets a lot of gunshots at it. that would be better.
I just read the article. Yes, they will be treating the pigs afterward. Supposedly this will help soldiers learn how to better treat battlefield wounds when there are no doctors/hospitals around for help. This exercise is being supervised by the army vet corp and some other agency that I can't remember now.

Oh, in that case, sign me up along side the pigs! I mean, as long as they're gonna treat me afterwards, what's a measly little gunshot wound? ::)

My God, how gratuitous...even for the army. It's true: Military intelligence is an oxymoron. I know this...I had three brothers in the Guard and one was career military.
A weekend in any ER in any large city would give them a lot more variety of wounds to treat than they could ever deal with, without having to hurt any animals.

PETA has a letter you can sign petitioning this practice. It's totally barbaric, especially in this "modern" age.

Very sad. I suppose they figure because pigs aren't considered by most people (not me) to be as cute and cuddly as dogs and cats that it's okay. I remember reading about the goats being shot at the time. The U.S. military has used, and probably still uses, a variety of animals. I saw video, not of the U.S. but some military, gassing German shepherds to death to test whatever the poisonous gas was for use in war. I believe the U.S. military trained dolphins in some capacity related to war crap a couple of years ago. There's so much use and abuse it's hard to keep track of it all... >:(
