anyone else secretly in love with cartoon characters/fake people?
^-^

I don't know if you heard...BUT a movie is in the works, I'm totally against it, mainly because I heard rumors of angelina jolie playing the role of Dagny!! Can you believe that!?  I think thats ridiculous...also heard that brad will have a part as well, meh.  I really hope they don't make him Hank Reardon...or Galt!  That would just ruin it for me.

Yeah, I did read that! I forgot about that...I don't think I saw anything about Brad, but I did see Angelina as Dagny! Totally wrong. I would guess they would make Brad, Galt. I REALLY stay away from movies of books that I'd previously read..b/c they are always extremely disappointing for me. Reading the book after the movie..is not so bad, though (which is not the case, here). I watched part of the 1949 Fountainhead with Gary Cooper..but didn't even like that. I have yet to watch Into the Wild...b/c that is one of my favorite books. Anyway, yeah...I think I would stay away from that one...

I asked my husband one day what he thought about the name Dagny....and he said it was ok..but didn't think it went well with our last name.  ;)
Do you have a myspace? I haven't had anyone to talk about this with!

Ohh yeah!! me too, I try to stay away from books turned film...and I can't possibly see how they would be able to capture the amazing-ness of Atlas Shrugged in any way shape or form...really the only way to get its' full satisfaction is to read the book, anything less than that, to me, isn't worth it.

I read the kite runner and really tried to steer clear of the movie but ended up watching it with a friend...no where near as good.

Haha, i've contemplated the name Dagny as well...although I'm not married or have the intention of having children anytime soon or ever in general  :).  But the book is sooo good, that it made me contemplate the naming of a child hehe.

This is my first Rand book, so I'm not too familiar with the fountain head...good stuff?  I don't have a myspace but I do have a facebook and email ;)b renteria.a gmail.com.  Facebook me is you have one!

oh and, i've really been wanting to read into the wild!

I was just talking about this with a friend yesterday while we were watching Anne of Avonlea!  Part of me wants to see the third movie just for fun, you know?  In a kind of masochistic, "omg what have they done" kind of way.

As much as I hate to admit this, yeah, me too. I do want to see the 3rd Anne film - just to know how bad it really is...

The only movie I've ever seen that improved on the book was The Handmaid's Tale...and believe me, I don't say those things lightly! The WORST film adaptation of a book I've ever seen was "Watership Down"--if you'd read the book, you were disappointed, and if you hadn't you were lost! Beautiful animation--shame about the script.

Actually Emma Thompson's adaptation of Sense and Sensibility was pretty darn good...she did the whole book, including the scene where Willoughby shows up in the rain in the middle of the night, but they had to cut that because the film was getting waaaay too long. She later said she was glad they had.

I read Watership Down in high school...and it was one of my least favorite books, ever. I don't know if I would think differently now...but agh! But, I think it was probably second in...least..favoritism..after Wuthering Heights...

(this has nothing to do with the movies)

Actually I'm wrong. The Hound of the Baskervilles with Jeremy Brett (the definitive Sherlock Holmes) was much better than the book, which is rather dry and uninteresting. The bits of business and flashes of humour the scriptwriter put in were much needed. There really isn't much dialogue in the book at all.

I completely concur about Alan Rickman.  He even made Snape kind of sexy in the hot, hook up in the supply room next to the newts, type of way.

LOL, I totally agree with you!

I was thinking back to some of the shows I watched when I was little and I love Thomas Magnum and B.J. Hunnicutt (sp.?) from M*A*S*H. To this day, I adore Mike Ferrell.

I just remembered one. I HAD a crush on the Clarke Brothers when "America's Next Greatest Band" (or whatever it was called) was airing. I don't know if I had a crush on anyone of them particularly....I think it was just their music/passion for music. I really loved them, and they won!

I miiggghhhttt feel a crush toward some dancer(s) on SYTYCD...I can't say yet..

Okay, this is totally geek but I have a crush Tidus from Final Fantasy X video game.  He is clutsy but really sweet.

And I second the "I wanna be Ayla" thing from the Earth's Children series.  I thought I was the only person here who liked those books.  I read those and think, man, I was born 10,000 years too late, I would have been much happier in those times.

OK, so I got "Anne of Green Gables" on audio book (yes, I have the book...I have the series, but I was curious.) They did bother to get a Canadian woman to read it...but it is HEAVILY edited, for some reason any reference to her going to church (the episode where she puts flowers on her hat) or learning her chatechism (the funny scene where she discusses her idea of God with Marilla) has been cut out. I suppose they were afraid they would "offend" someone, but after all Mrs Montgomery WAS a minister's wife, and in the 1800's church was a large part of village life. Huh.  :-\

I can top that as far as geekiness - Link in The Legend of Zelda. Especially in Twilight Princess.

haha I realized that a little while after posting. I didn't know what he meant..."beautifully modified"...or "funcore" for that matter. "Beautifully modified" sounds...scary.

'Here, take this potion...it will beautifully modify you!'  ;)

Is funcore some...new music...genre? I'm feeling old!

you ladies have me laughing. first off I am wordy and rather sarcastic if any have taken notice.

"Beautifully modified" includes but not limited to tattooing, piercing, scarification, implants, life changing events the sway courses, emotionally and mentally. I find aberrance attractive. I have my limitations and nothing in extreme excess.
"Body modification (or body alteration) is the permanent or semi-permanent deliberate altering of the human body for non-medical reasons.."

Funcore is a term that pertains to happy hardcore. I seek someone content, secure and that offers a glowing uplifting  smile from time to time. I am active, needing some on fun to the core.
