NVR - What are you reading right now? (Fiction or non-fiction)

I'm reading 'Raising Vegan Children in a Non-vegan World' by Erin Pavlina.
I'm curious what everyone else has their nose in at the moment!  :)

I just finished reading "Lowboy" by John Wray. I highly, highly recommend it!

Tomorrow I'm picking up a few goodies from the library:
Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf
The Local News by Miriam Gershow
How To Save Your Own Life by Erica Jong

That ought to hold me for a week!

Finished Son of the Shadows... was a good book, but had too much love in it.  Don't get me wrong, I love love stories, but sometimes I think a book needs more than that.
haha.  Can't wait to find and then read the third and final one.

It's so whimsical and fun to read!

Allende is like a French comedy, in that it makes perfect sense while you're in her world--but don't try to describe it to anyone who hasn't read it. Unless you want to be on the recieving end of "the look" (the look that says WTF are you talking about?)  ;D

Her first 4 novels were good but after "Paula" she started to write to a formula..all the books are different but the same basic elements are always there. And "Paula" made me so angry, anyway. If she had been listening her daughter would not have been put in a coma and died.

Ohh, exactly! I have not read her other books yet.. this one was passed down to me in the jungle, it's quite popular down there (for obvious reasons.) Can't wait to check out her other writings.. I hear that they are making Eva Luna into a movie, which I'm not really that excited about.. after they butchered The Reader...

I picked up these two books from a place I am staying and one of them caught me on the first page by the authors writing style.  It is called Malaria Dreams by Stuart Stevens.  I'm excited to read it, if I get time to!
It is about a persons trip to Africa, though it is fictional. I think. haha.

Somebody gave me a whacking big cardboard box of books in English on Thursday!! Bless them!! So I have a feast of fat things that will last awhile. This is greaat because the used book run won't be doable until at least September.
I sorted them into books I've read (only 2-3), books I have no intention of reading (psycho-killer stuff), books I *might* read (mostly war stuff, like The Hunt for Red October) and books I'm dying to read. And there's a paperback copy of Silmarillon too.
A friend was surprised to discover that Aleixandre Dumas didn't write The Three Musketeers for kids, originally. (No, dear.  ::))

Currently reading "Snow Falling on Cedars" and wondering if the movie is any good. I saw a few trailers and know the photography was excellent but what about the story line. Could go either way in the hand of a scriptwriter, and usually does.

The Plains of Passage by Jean Auel.

I learn so much from those books, like all the edible plants the main character uses and herbal medicine!

two similar threads (i think) so i'm going to post my reply here as well (in addition to the "books" thread)

i'm waiting for "inkdeath" (the last of the inkheart trilogy) to become available in the library.  in the meantime, i'm reading "the tale of two cities" by charles dickens.  it was very difficult to read the first few chapters but after that - it seems to be getting a bit easier on the brain.

Tender Is The Night is in my top 10 for novels ... it gets better the more you read it.

I am currently reading The Good Parents by Joan London. It's wonderful, set in Australia, and a pleasure to read. I also finished Mrs. Dalloway this week, which was just as good as I'd expected. I'll definitely read that one again.
