Just in case you wanted to eat fast food... "Ad vs. Reality"

I was looking for a picture of a Sausage McMuffin so that I could layer my "Egg" McVegan (http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=5087.0) in the correct McOrder (yep, it's important!) and I came across this...

I thought, "Wow! That'll squelch some cravings!"
So there you go! Lucky you! Truth with a Craving Buster packed right in. :)
OK that makes me want to vomit. Fast food is soooo nasty, though I would like to see a vegan fast food type joint that serves NO meat. The closest thing that I have found to "fast food" are falafel places. Thanks for the link, I am going to send it to my omni fiancee so maybe he will stop eating it. It has gotten to the point that when he eats it I just stare at him in disgust and he has to take it in the other room.
*barf* Fast food is sooooooo gross! I can't believe I used to eat so much of it! The onlything I have now is a vegi sub from fubway now and agian--and maybe some fries when I get a craving--but *EWWW* I'm so much happier without it!!!
Thanks for the pics!
Yeah and I just spent the last 20 min surfing around the rest of the guy's site...the article on Alli side effects was funny, but I'll bet, all too true!
Oh my gosh! I was just over at the Alli side effects part too and I laughed so hard I almost blew ginger ale out my nose!! Then my power went out for over an hour and I finally got to have a real conversation with my S/O. That hardly ever happens. I've got to go back and finish reading it now. :)
I love comparison sites like this! I have always wanted to be a "food stylist". It's amazing how they can make something look so good in ads but then, the assembly line workers just schlep stuff together (NO offense!) I don't think I could do it. Even when I make a sandwich, it has to be "just so". Takes me longer to make one than to eat it. LOL
I have been fantasizing for years about opening up a veg*n fast food place! Living in a college town, I think it could go over big. I've gotten pretty good at substituting things....if I just had the money. ::)
Ewww! The Arbys sandwich looked like they sat on it at the end of the assembly line.....NASTY!

I take it you meant 'Subway'? lol :D Anyway, stay away from the fries at McDonalds -- one of the ingredients is 'Natural Beef Flavor' made with 'hydrolyzed milk'.
blah. that was me, vomiting.
Am I the only one who thought that subway sandwhich didn't look too bad when compared with the advertising?
Maybe I was just really hungry then, lol.
Fast food is really gross, I agree. I never ate it even when I did eat meat. I honestly don't know why SO many people find it so good. It can't be just the price and convenience. People must enjoy the taste ... I never understood that.
Oh, ick. I think the Arby's beef and cheddar looks awful in the ad picture as well.
Bleh. :P
The Alli side effects are really funny!! ;D ;D

I thought so too...I even considered that maybe these people told the subway peeps what they were doing, so they folded the lunchmeat like that. They don't usually look like that
But I'm sorry dudes, that Wendy's taco whatever it was..it looked good. I've never seen one in real life, but that pic looked like something I would make myself, so I can't hate that hard
most of the ads are pretty clearly fake food.
most of the ads are pretty clearly fake food.
Let us say I know many TV peoples, a friend once put lipstick on a tomato for a TV ad. It "wasn't red enough" Certain things will melt under lights (cheese, small children) so that has to be fake as well. Yuck.
I can hate on fast food all the time (I gave it up long before becoming vegan) BUT unlike my husband sometimes I see a McD's sign and I can taste the fries!!! He has NO craving associations whatsoever he flat out hates it. But I don't. I want a salty fry or an ice cream sundae when I see that damn yellow sign!! If McD's had soy delicious I think I might cave... no, NO, NO! Think of Fast Food Nation, Jennifer! Think of the teenager spit that that sundae comes with! Think of the environment!! AHHHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....
all the reasons in the world vs. one moment of euphoric fudgey ice cream goodness....
I swear, I'm torn sometimes.

Yeah, I've heard photogs talk about spraying food with mineral oil to make it shine, and one of the "condiments" on the comparison site looks like pieces of plastic...oh goody, "real fake food"! LOL
JenniferHughes....OMG...Thanks so much for posting that link. I don't think I've laughed so hard in my life. The Alli Effects, 15 ugliest rockers and the people who look they're farting was hilarious.

I didn't even look around at the rest of the site until you all said how funny it was... and it was!!! ;D

I have a friend who has photographed food for 20+ years and it's scary what they do sometimes. He has a lot of big name clients and I love to pick apart food ads that he's done.

it is a whole job, being a food photographer, so I'm not too surprised. they use hairspray etc for shiny items. but then, let's face it, they do that for vegetarian food, too, if that appears in an ad. only it doesn't so often ::)
