BOCA EGG FREE BY 2010

News Brought to you courtesy of http://vegnews.com

Boca Goes Egg-Free
Spring chickens will have a little extra spring in their step come next year, when major vegetarian-food producer Boca completely eliminates eggs from all its products. After a very brief and highly effective campaign run by Compassion Over Killing, Mercy for Animals, and the Animal Protection & Rescue League, Boca has committed to phasing out eggs altogether and will be egg-free by 2010.

Don't really eat stuff like this anymore but really excited by this news.  ;)b

Hopefully Morninstar follows Boca

I am confused by your response here, and your response in the chitchat thread, when the rest of us were talking about the great news..a few weeks ago.

Either way, great news.

hehe, no..not a double post, but sarah informed us all about the boca news in chitchat a couple of weeks ago, and joe said this:

Quote:
I see companies
trying to make consumers happy.
Boca included.

This is not always a good thing.
The whole goal being Vegan or should be is to be healthy and not eat lots of processed foods.

I am guilty and have some vegan processed items in the freezer.
Guarantee it is allot less than most people mainly I keep a box of vegan patties in case I have guests over.
Usually Zippy gets them after they start getting frost on the box.
Also have some old tofu in there I bought about a year ago started using it for some dog food and practiced a few Indian dishes with it.

I guess I interpreted that as negative, but I'm glad he thinks it's positive...because it is!

I can appreciate that "the whole goal of the vegan should be to eat healthy and unprocessed foods........" (which is a bit presumptive because people have their reasons for being vegan, some don't care about health but the animals).  However, we also have to realize that lots of non-veg*ns eat Boca products.  Applauding a junk food company for becoming more creulty free is appropriate in my opinion.

Ally you are fierce!

100% Happy they are doing this!!
I stopped looking at both Boca and Morningstar products once I found out they used caged-hens...
Now, although I love homemade... I know I'll be able to get Boca for those convenient times.  YAY!

So far this year I have helped about 4 people not a big number but allot of happy animals because of it.
