Edit. The following intro is a bit old. I unfortunately ended my long term relationship after nearly ten years. Just couldn't be worked out. I got the house and the dogs and am relatively happy now. I finished my online RN to BSN program and am a genuine college graduate at the age of 48!!! Woot!
Edit #2 - I finally reached the ripe old age of 50 and am feeling fabulous! I always get the "you don't look 50" thing, and I attribute that to a healthy diet and lifestyle.
I deleted my Myspace page. I do have Facebook and love to have vegwebbers for friends. You can private message me and I'll give you my name. Or you can find me on the vegweb fan page.
Edit #3 - Finally went vegan. The last couple of years, I've been slowly getting there, replacing household and personal products with vegan items such as vegan soaps, candles, cleaners. I've bought vegan shoes, belts and wallets. I'm loving it! Decided to let my hair go naturally grey instead of coloring it so I don't get the "you don't look 50" thing as much anymore. LOL I now have a desk job in the admit-transfer center and hate it hate it hate. I just can't be stuck behind a desk, and I'm the lookout for something else.
Edit #4 - Found a position at the hospital I currnetly work on an ortho floor. I think I'll like returning to the bedside and not a desk job. w00t
It's been a while and I thought it might be nice to for everyone who posts here to tell a little about yourself. I took a little sabbatical from this site (went back to eating meat for two years..........bleech), but lurked from time to time, but have been a part of this site for gee, can it be 8 or more years???? But I don't know a lot of you.
I am a nurse. I am a male. (yes, a person who will remain nameless called me a "she".) I am gay. I've been in a monogamous relationship for the last nine years with a great guy who now travels a lot. I was an ovo-lacto veg*n for about 12 years before slipping, I plead insanity.
I'm currently in an online program to go from an ADN RN to BSN RN and hope to finally graduate from college at the age of 48 next year.

As for my intro.
I discovered Vegweb yesterday so I am a 24 hour lurker. Lol.
This site is fantastic, I wish it had been around when I was a teen ovo-lacto vegetarian in Iceland, back in the 90's.
That my friends was... interesting to say the least.
I've been ovo-lacto vegetarian most of my life, with few slip ups here and there which I am extremely unproud of. (unproud is a word in that context ::) ).
I am 24 years old, married to the love of my life and a mother to a wonderful little girl who was born in our bed in December 2008.
Next week we'll be moving to a small island just by the coast of north-Iceland, population 200.
It will be wonderful, I can't wait.
I've been studying English lit but am taking a U-turn and plan on studying herbology/nature based medicine. My husband is studying massage therapy. Together we plan on becoming yoga teachers.
On top of that all, being parents is our true calling :)>>>
Recently, with our daughter turning 6 months old and preparing her to start solids (she's only had breastmilk up until Friday last... breastfeeding rocks!) I've been reevaluating our stands with food regarding our Pea. We've decided to raise her vegetarian and DH has decided to quit meat. Hoorray!
(we'll be a family of lacto vegs since DH has a severe allergy to eggs).
So if there are any veg parents out there that would like to share experience, I would wildly appreciate it.

I totally agree! It's been many years ago for me, but I nursed my daughter until she was 2 1/2! Of course, most people treat me like a freak when they find that out.

Born and raised in San Francisco, moved to NYC for 6+ years and moved back to SF. I love living creatures and urban areas. Science is cool. My favorite restaurant in the world is Millennium. Okay I'll take a shot at Roll Call ecause I'm enjoying reading about all of you so much...
My name is Laura Beck. I live in San Francisco. I've been vegan for 6 1/2 years (I've seen this with other vegans, we all count our vegan in years and months, kinda like kids count their age...I think maybe because we're excited when we've been vegan for awhile, kinda like kids get excited about getting older. BUT I DIGRESS). I'm 31 years-old. I grew up in San Francsico, Oakland and Alameda (a tropical island paradise in the SF Bay!) and went to college in New York City. I move back to SF after graduating with a degree in Film & TV and then when I was walking dogs at the shelter one day, I realized maybe what I really wanted to do was work with and for animals. So long, my entire education! Oh, except for the student loan, which I'll probably be paying off until the day I die! Anyway, I started working with a group that rescued death row doggiess and placed them in homes (I still volunteer with that group, Rocket Dog Rescue!) and then with a couple different animal rights groups. I was so excited about the prospect to work on VegWeb because not only am I OBSESSED with vegan food, I've used VegWeb since I've been vegetarian to find recipes and refer everyone and their mother to this site. I've lurked on the forums before but never ventured in and I'm excited to see all the exciting, funny, cool, weird, awesome people on the site. My kinda people.
I don't know anyone here in real life except for IdrinkYourVeganMilkshake (she is AWESOME) and um...my boyfriend who has an account too. Oh and Wonderyort! Who is also awesome. And maybe a couple more of you too...who knows??
Finally, I'm PSYCHED about the VegWeb meetup in SF in August because if there is one thing I can get down with, it is a vegan potluck. I'm ready to eat until i explode and then maybe go out and get more food after :)
Oh and I type really fast and am really terrible about using the Spell Check so please excuse any and all typos and grammatical faux pas. Of which I'm sure there are many.
ONE MORE THING, i am making vegan green tea ice cream...fingers crossed it turns out! I just got an ice cream maker last week so this is VERY exciting for me.

Hi. My name is Heather, I'm obviously new to this board. I was a vegetarian throughout my middle and high school years. Now, I am trying to go back to being a vegetarian. I am 21 years old. Married. I have a daughter who is almost two. (Do the math, I was 19 when I had her. ;) ) I live in Utah, in a little town called Eagle Mountain, I'm about 30 minutes away from Salt Lake. I am going to school and my major is Special Education. In my spare time I love doing yoga. I also enjoy sewing and reading. I enjoy searching the web for new recipes, so I am sure that I will love this site and find many other awesome Vegetarian/Vegan recipes. I am also absolutely obsessed with Twilight. I know, I am a nerd. :)

The last time I was in Salt Lake City, I ate at a GREAT all vegan cafe...I can't remember the name now but it was delicious, I had a vegan egg mcmuffin! Vegan junk food <3
There are some really good vegan cafes in sugarhouse/downtown salt lake. I know that a vegan bakery just opened. Mmm. :)

My name is Rob and have been a vegetarian off and on thoughout my life. I have recently decided that my current lifestyle needed a healthier change and am doing so. My ultimate goal is vegan due to some changes in my belief system, and will make the switch as soon as I get some things figured out (mainly substitutions). I came across this site and am amazed at all the information here.
my ex girlfriend referred to herself as a "passive stalker" because she would always lurk around profiles and keep tabs on what's going on with everyone, even if they didn't know about it.
