Hi! Came looking for recipes, found a community! I've been a veggie for exactly 3 months, and I love how it makes me be more creative in the kitchen. I'm just discovering stuff like quinoa and the wonders of scrambled tofu...and I love turning my kitchen into a test lab. I'm married to a guy I call El Hubbito, and we have a Jack Russell named Syd and a Maine Coon named Sully. I can't wait to meet some cool veggie folks!
welcome! i felt the same way when i found vegweb about 6 years ago. It has been a valuable resource and I've made lots of great friends!

We have a non-violable requirement that pictures of all Maine Coons be posted here --> Pictures of your Furbabies!
*salute* (DiNozzo voice) On it Boss!
welcome vegweb is the bomb... couldn't live without it!
Glad you found us! Welcome!
You've already found the best part of being vegan--eating a wide variety of foods! When other people see what you're eating, they're usually jealous!
I just joined a couple days ago!! You mean I've been vegan for two years now and I never came across this wonderful website?! ;D I made my first recipe tonight.. "Mexizzas" There's a picture of it on my profile. Yummmmy.
Welcome !! I'm a newbie too.

:D You are SO right! One of El Hubbito's oft-repeated sentences lately has been "This hippie food is pretty good!"
Only problem is that I can't ever call myself vegan, even if I did stop using cow's milk. One of the medicines I take is "most likely" animal-derived, and since it's one of the ones that keeps me alive, I'm pretty much resigned to it.
Welcome ... This was such a great resource when I was starting out as a vegetarian years ago. I'm sure you will feel the same way. This is still the first place I check when I want a new recipe. It's so cool to have a place where I can go to find a different way to prepare something that I have in the 'fridge. I tend to over-buy groceries, so by the 3rd day of eating, say, cauliflower, I've done everything that I know to do with it. Non-veg sites usually have 2 options ... one that includes bacon, pancetta or some other meat/animal broth or taking said vegetable and smothering it in some sort of cheese sauce. How completely non-creative. My mother's favorite way to make vegetables is to cook them with bacon. I don't get it.
Anyway, since you introduced yourself to everyone else, I should do the same for you. I live in the U.S. (Ohio). I am married with no kids, but we just got a new (to us) kitty ... a 8-9 month old named Midnight. I've been vegetarian since 1995 and continue to be off again/on again vegan. I hope one day it will stick. Becoming vegetarian was so easy for me, I don't understand why I keep backsliding with veganism. Sorry, I'm getting WAY off topic.
It's great to meet you. I hope we can become friends!

Welcome to VegWeb!
If its a med that you have to take, then I wouldn't worry about feeling less like a vegan. There's no way to be 100% vegan. I too have meds I have to take that have gelatin capsules, and I'm still vegan. Vegan Freak did a podcast about animal derived medicine some time ago, and about how being a healthy vegan may need to take medicine thats not vegan in order to stay healthy.
welcome! these forums are informative and fun filled with some really cool minded people.
so cool that you have a maine coon. my parents have one and it is the coolest cat.
