New girl!
My name's Katy. I'm 21 and as my username suggests, I live in a small town. I tried going vegetarian once in high school, but only lasted three days. I'm trying it again. I want to be vegetarian for two reasons. The first is health. I read that a vegetarian diet can lower your risk of heart disease and type 2 diabetes, and there's a history of both in my family. The second is I don't like killing animals. I'm adopting a ovo-lacto vegetarian diet. I cannot do vegan. I like cheese too much! lol I'm going to slowly wean myself off meat so my body can get used to it. Right now I'm just eating meat once a day. In a few days I'll go to eating meat every other day. I hope to be completly meat free in a month or two. I'm actually starting to lose my taste for meat. I simply don't want it as much as I used too.
I'm a devout Catholic and a conservative. I enjoying debating religion and politics. I also enjoy camping, cooking, music, reading, photography, and being with family and friends. I plan on going back to school in Janaury and getting a degree in hotel manangement. It is my dearest ambition to move to Colorado and open a hotel/resort there.
I'm looking foward to getting to know everyone here. If anyone has advice on becoming vegetarian I'd be greatful.
