New from the bay area, trying to be hella vegan

Hey everyone! My name is Hanna, I just became a vegetarian about 4 months ago and am still working on being a vegan, doing it as much as possible until I hopefully can go all the way soon. I'd like to thank Food Inc. and Alicia Silverstone's The Kind Diet for motivating someone who thought they could never be a vegetarian or vegan. Can't wait to start talking to new people! I'd love any advice or tips too 8)

I just went to Gracias Madre last night, SO good. If you are in SF and want yummy organic vegan mexican food this is the place to go!

There's a great vegan Japanese place in the Mission called Cha Ya. Very versatile dishes, loaded with tons of veggies. It's a great place to grab a healthy, delicious meal :)

Hahahah I drove by that place after dinner at GM, that is my next dinner spot in SF to go to :)

Cha Ya is great but my favorite Japanese place in the mission is Minako! They're not entirely vegan but they have a HUGE vegan selection, including a vegan eel! It might sound scary but it's DELICIOUS!! It's on Mission at 18th st, half a block from Gracias Madre!

Oh and speaking of vegan pizza, there is also Beretta for fancy pizza and cocktails (it's on 23rd and Valencia) and Patxi's (three locations, two in SF, one in Palo Alto) is going to have vegan deep dish pizza (made with Daiya) starting at the end of May!

Also, I'll give a plug for a vegan website in SF that I also write on: www.Vegansaurus.com! It's a vegan lifestyle guide to SF with tons of reviews and info and all that jazz, plus it is hilarious and awesome. Uh, I write for it so I'm partial but you know.

I LOVE vegansaurus! I follow you guys on twitter and read the blog occasionally. I've been meaning to try Patxi's too. So many amazing restaurants in SF! Thanks for your advice, it was a big help :)

Welcome! Lucky you to be in a vegan paradise :) I'm in Holland which has a cuisine that has not taken the world by storm, vegan or not. LOL
