What should I making using mock pork?
So I went to an Asian market & I thought I died & went to vegetarian heaven :)>>> Oh my fricken gosh!!! Better than Whole Foods & Trader Joe's combined & sooo cheap! I spent $50 & got enough tofu to last me a few months plus lots of other goodies, including a frozen "Tuna Roll". That was a splurge at $8. They actually had silken tofu that wasn't vacuum packed - I've never seen this before. I forgot to look for tempeh while I was there, so I can't wait to go back & see if they have it. :D
So here is the 10oz can of "pork". And yes, it does say POPK...

Here is a small sampling of some of the other goodies..

So what should I make with the canned pork???? There is only one can & I really don't know what to do with it.
i make curry with it. they also have cans of this masaman curry simmer sauce that i throw it in. with some peas.
I have to say the idea or canned pork is not at all appetizing (even vegan pork)???.
I hope what ever you make comes out delicious and wonderful..maybe simmer with some onions and bar-b-que sauce and make sandwiches with pickles and coleslaw.
I'm sure that's the exact stuff I buy at the massive Wing Yip supermarket near me. If it is - be warned it has a weird (but nice) 'Chinese'-type flavouring on it and is a strange pink colour.
I buy it all the time as it's super cheap and I can't easily get hold of vital wheat gluten to make my own seitan. I tend to use it in stir fries or on pizzas, but don't know if that's interesting enough for you (as it's your only can I assume you want to do something a bit special with it)
My first thought was pork fried rice, but I guess that's not very exciting. I've had that exact brand of "Vegetarian Beef" and "Vegetarian Chicken." I like the "chicken" better. My coworker gave me a great vegan chicken pot pie recipe that uses it. Mmmmmm.
Maybe to give flavor in a split pea soup? Cut em up into bitesize pieces and make vegan "pork" tamales (pasteles). I hope that helps. Although I never eat seitan, because it kinda grosses me out, but you'll pronanly like it. Good luck!
Thanks everyone, for the great suggestions. I really do appreciate it! :)
