Veggie Burger mix

OK, so I copied the Veggie Burger Mix recipe from fatfree.com that is posted on the Meat Out page. Went out and bought all the stuff to try it. It tells you to put all the legumes (and they are many) in a blender and grind them to "powdered form". Well I did, in my blender and then in my food processor, and the green soy beans I used and the red lentils flat down refuse to grind up.
The recipe tells you to add seasonings etc and then some hot liquid and let it sit for 15 min before making the burgers.
Trouble is, I have little bits of legume that simply refuse to be ground up. Very small pieces but kind of hard.  Could I cook the "dough" before hand, and how much liquid would I need? Any suggestions as to how to go about it? I suppose I could sieve them out (sigh)...and I hate to toss this stuff as it made about 4 cups of mix.

You need a food processor with an S blade to get the dry stuff really well (ie vitamix with a dry container)
But I think the big bits will add texture to the burgers... i mean i don't know how much ended up unground ... the soaking should be fine as lentils don't normally need soaking time and will still cook down to a soft form... i dunno about the soybeans though.
i like chunky bits in my "burgers"  you could try one or two and see if it works out and the sieve if needed.... i don't think you need to toss it though.

I re-ground the legumes and seasoned the mix for all I was worth, following the recommendations of the person who posted this recipe to the Meat-out site. When I prepared the first taster, I followed instructions but I did increase the amount of liquid recommended. I don't know how dry the dry legumes y'all have there are, but I doubled the amound of hot liquid and the resulting paste was still very stiff. Cooked the "burgers" and all I can say is--BLEAH. Taste: pure raw garbanzo, with salt. Ugh! :P >:( :-\
I know I only used a quarter cup of each ingredient but it goes against the grain to toss what's left of the mix, so I will try cooking it up like a croquette mixture and see if that helps. There is NOT enough liquid in the original. Maybe if I started with cooked legumes and rice etc. like you do for regular bean burgers it would be better. Give me the Black Bean Burgers off this site any day!!

Sorry they didn't turn out for you; I hate wasting things too.  The croquette idea might work.  Thanks for the update.  After you initially posted about the mix I was interested in trying it.  Grateful for the warning!

I went back to the Meat-Out site and couldn't seem to find the recipe, and so I went to fatfree.com to look and didn't find it there either. They must have tasted it AFTER they posted it!

;D  I found it right after your first post about it.  Too bad they hadn't worried about quality control before you found it.

I believe I had a coffee grinder work quite well for this recipe. Unfortunately, I didn't like the flavour or texture of the finished product, but then again, I almost never like loaf-y or burgur-y things, so it may be just me. Good luck
