what! those maple things are vegan? i passed them up when i first saw them, since they were with all the other butter-laden stuff. they don't have Uncle Eddie's at my TJs. Just their own brand (suspiciously like Eddie's), but no pb/chocolate flavor.

Trader Joe's is a lot less vegan-friendly than WF. But ask nicely and they can print you off a list of all their vegan products.
I go ape shit over TJ's sauces. They are like pure sodium and delicious.

I know, I was so shocked when I tried it!! So good! :D What else do you get there that's yummers? I'm going to Santa Fe in a few weeks & will be making a TJ run.
their eggplant wrap is also pretty good (although the eggplant is not consistently the best quality). I like to get the "vegetable panang curry" from the frozen section and the eggplant hummus. As someone else said, the Maple Leaf cookies are delicious (and ridiculously sweet), but they are so good that I would actually recommend NOT getting them because you may not be able to stop eating them. i also occasionally get their meatless meatballs and soy nuggets. they also have some really good curry sauces. I loved their Roasted Vegetable no-cheese pizza but unfortunately I haven't seen it in a long time :(

trader joes is one of those places with individually wrapped cucumbers and produce that is priced individually and not by the pound, ounce, whatever. pretty much everything else is cheaper at tjoes though. they had some kind of gluten free pizza crust that was 5 dollars and i went to whole foods which was on the way home to compare prices. 7 dollars. i don't know why i was so uncharacteristically optimistic

I've only been in a Trader Joe's once and I've never even seen a Whole Foods before but when I went to Trader Joes barely anything was vegan. I had a bad experience at TJ and really didn't see the big deal about it. Can't speak for Whole Foods though.

I go to both stores.. both are equal distance, an hour away from me. I buy certain things at TJ's, like the "meatballs", walnuts, avocados, etc. but some things I can only get at WF, such as Nayonaise, Red Miso, Daiya cheese, spelt flour, etc. I like their produce better for the most part and they have a larger selection of breads and they sell some amazing vegan scones! Prices at both are lower than my local supermarkets, they charge ridiculous prices for vegan or "Healthy" items (for the most part).

I have neither store in my area (which really sucks...) but there is a store around here compairable to WF called Wegmans. they have a pretty nice produce section and have a nice variety of veg-friendly goods. They actually just started carrying daiya cheese!!! Woo :D
