raw food for two weeks

I've been eating a bit too much the past few weeks and it's beginning to show up on my belly :(. To hopefully remedy this I've decided to do the raw food thing for two weeks. I've done this a few times before and am always pleased with how I feel and look afterward. Eating only raw food also forces me to try new recipes and be more creative. And since summer fruit is here I think it will be quite easy to go two weeks without cooking anything.
So, have any of you gone any length of time eating only raw food? If yes, how did you feel, and do you have any favorite meals or snacks you'd like to share?
Thanks!
i've done high raw before, but never totally raw. mostly because i really like baking ::)
when i do raw i keep it really simple. i've tried different raw dishes and i'm just not happy with them. i eat a lot of salads, whole fruit, fruit salads, raw nuts, flax crackers with raw nutbutters.
i have been messing with raw food bars that are like lara bars a bit. i soak dates, put them in the food processor with some raw nuts and other dried goodies, and grind them up. press into a pan to set and ta da! all done. they taste pretty good but i can't copy lara bars really. i think i have too many dates in there or something.
I've been thinking about trying to copy lara bars for quite some time. I think now would be a great time to do that.
Yesterday I made almond peach cream and layered it with sliced peaches and strawberries. It was decadent. This morning I had cashew mango cream layered with strawberries, apricots, a nectarine, coconut flakes, wheat germ and dried figs. I thought I had died and gone to heaven! I love experimenting!
I love fake larabars. It's fun to experiment with new fruit/nut combinations.
I just recently made something I'm calling laraballs (rolling them into balls instead of trying to form them into bars). Very tasty if I do say so myself. And very easy to do. No measurements, just eyeballing. In my first experiment I used dates (of course) with almonds and cashews--rolled 'em in shredded coconut. My next batch will be similar with the addition of cinnamon. :)
Edit as of July 1:
When I made the cinnamon ones, I measured things and have submitted them as a recipe--my first. (I don't usually do "original" cooking but I can identify successfully ones others have submitted that will be yummy to us.)
I was thinking about that when I last made the bars. I think rolling small "laraballs" in coconut, like you mentioned, then refridgerating or maybe slightly freezing them could make for a nice Hor's D'oeuvre.

Wow Rosewood- my mouth is watering, your dishes sound so delicious!! (Where's that drooling icon?!!)
Almond peach cream. Cashew mango cream. Did you buy these or make them? If you made it please post a recipe.
On the raw food thing. I could do it quite easily in summer, but it's winter down here and I'm not sure what I'd eat.

I made them. I got the recipes from a book and then tweaked them a bit to suit me. Since I changed the recipes a little can I post them as my own or do I need to give credit to the book? I've never posted a recipe before so don't yet know the rules. I'd love to share!
I've been wondering about that. I think if you've altered it, then it's different and you're allowed to post it. You could probably still mention the book as your inspiration for that particular recipe.
Thanks, BCSH. I'll give it a try.
I'm going to ask Yvette about it now.
I think I'll wait and see what you find out before I post a recipe. I'd hate to do something wrong my first time!
Thanks, baypuppy. I REALLY changed the recipe, so I'll go ahead and post it as my own. I basically just got the idea from a book and made it into something very different.
rosewood, have you submitted anything yet? ooh, i'm going on a gluten free "fast" for about 2 weeks. i got some nearly raw brownies today at a health food shop today and they were amazing!
A couple days ago I submitted a recipe for Dreamy Cashew Mango Cream. I'm just waiting for it to post. I'm excited for someone else to try it and tell me what they think. It is SO GOOD!
Why the gluten free "fast"? Are you just curious if you'll feel any differently? Do you think you might be allergic? Let me know how it goes and share any yummy recipes. Good luck! :)
I've been getting crazy with raw yellow squash, zucchini, collard greens and kale lately.
I made a cole slaw last night with the above (minus kale) on the theory that we eat cabbage raw, why not collards. It was delightful. I added onions, garlic, rice vinegar, salt and pepper. Just yummy. Better today. Also, I've been adding zucchini and yellow squash to my smoothies lately and you just can't tell (the banana covers anything but beets, in my experience).
Have fun with it!

if anyone knows anything that covers up raw beets..... well!!! you're my new best friend. i like making raw stuff but beets.... oye. i'm vegan to save the earth, not eat it. ;)
hehe; the few times I've tried to work with raw beets have ended in very colorful doggie food. As a matter of fact, there have been very few times that I've eaten cooked beets that I can say I enjoyed them. Tolerated because I know they're good for me, yes, but enjoy...mmmm...not so much.

Oh boy, raw beets. They're so rich that I often feel a bit sick when i eat them raw. But yesterday I found a way to eat them that is actually quite good. I put a grapefruit, orange, and a few chunks of a raw beet and about six ice cubes in my Vitamix and blended away until nice and smooth. It was great, especially since yesterday was so hot here.
