Protein Substitute???

I wanted to make this recipe because I suddenly found myself with alot of oats and peanut butter (long story)- but WHAT IS A PROTEIN SUBSTITUTE that one can use in a bar like this???

Oatmeal Protein Bars

Ingredients (use vegan versions):

    3 cups oats
    8 servings protein substitute (??????????)
12 tablespoons peanut butter (or your favourite nut butter, I like almond)
    1.5 cups milk substitute
substitute equal to 2 egg whites
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon salt

Suggestions?

That looks like it's from vegweb.  Dang, that's a bad recipe.

It read like a copied recipe, so I searched around online and came up with a similar one.  There are a couple of places it's different, other than the protein powder.  One is the peanut butter, but 12 tablespoons is equal to 3/4 cup.  The other is the milk.  The recipe I found takes 1 cup milk and the vegweb version takes 1-1/2 cups nondairy milk.  You may start with 1 cup and then add the additional 1/2 cup if you think it needs it to hold together.

Here's a list of egg substitutes, if it helps --> Egg Substitutes

I have three protein powders (pea, rice, and hemp) on hand at my house.  The pea and rice powders weren't helpful, but the hemp powder is about 30 grams every 1/4 cup.  I think that is about 1 cup + 2 tablespoons or so of protein powder.  Visually, the hemp powder appears to be a bit denser than the other two, so I'd do a 1 to 1-1/2 cups, depending on which protein powder you use.

3 cups oatmeal
140 grams protein powder
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup milk
2 egg whites
1 cup apple sauce
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

I was going to suggest hemp powder as well so I'd follow what HH said.
