Preferred brands of rice milk?!@!

My family is pretty devoted to Rice dream original, (organic)  however.....it is expensive!!!!  I could make my own, but need the fortified-ism from the packaged variety, (not to mention the convience.) The trader joes brand and several grocery store generic brands, (all are alsoorganic,) are seriously half the cost BUT they list brown rice syrup ,( which is basically sugar,) as the first ingredient.  For all nutrition-know-it-alls out there are the Rice dream ingredients (partically-milled rice and no rice syrup,) "worth-it"?....(it is going to aa young child, so I will obviously spend more if it is healthier,) oh and hempmilk/soymilk/nutmilk are not options for this child either due to allergies!  Thanks in advance for any opinions out there!

I always get Rice Dream and scout out where it is cheapest, haha. I don't like the way other rice milks taste and I'm allergic to soy. Maybe try Oat Milk too?

I don't know about its availability, but oat or potato milk might be worth a try. Have you been checking the UHT long-life milks as well? They're smaller, so they're a bit overpackaged, but there's usually a greater variety, and if you catch a good deal, you can stockpile enough to last a long while.

Perhaps you could try making your own? I don't know much about the process, but I'd guess it'd be somewhere between nut milk and soy milk in effort/time, and probably a heck of a lot cheaper. Plus you'd know exactly what went into it.

thanks for the suggestions! I've enever tried oat milk, and haven't seen potato milk yet.  I read in the products section of the forums about trader joes whole grain beverage which has quinoa, millet, etc, ...I'm pretty excited to check that out!

I'm not sure if they're any cheaper (I usually just buy Rice Dream as well) but I've also seen in the stores So Good Rice Milk & Vitasoy have a good range too.

whatever is on sale, today the cartons of Rice Dreams were 3 for 5 dollars. I also like a brand called Good Karma they have a organic whole grain rice milk and chocolate milk.
I would think that making the oat milk would be the cheapest. There is a simple recipe in one of the Garden of Vegan books, can't remember which one, if you wanted it I could find it for you and post it here.
