I think I found raw sugar!

LIDL has started carrying Sugar from the Island of Reunion. In Spanish the box says "azucar moreno" which means "brown sugar", but the sugar itself is in small, perfectly distinct square crystals, not at all sticky, which are a pale beach-sand tan. It doesn't have the molasses taste of sugar-with-added-molasses, instead it has a unique flavour all its own. I googled "pictures of raw sugar" and I think that's what I have. Made banana bread with it and I like it. I also like it in coffee.

No earthshaking news, I guess.  ;)b

Awesome, I love LIDL, they have some really good soy yogurt there, I think from SoyWell.

I´ve seen raw sugar at Carrefour as well, I don´t know if you have one of those where you live. It´s Portuguese sugar, I don´t remember the name of the brand though.

We do have a Carrefour, tho I seldom go there because it's too tempting to spend way too much. I did go there last week tho to get some "maiz mote" (aka posole or dried hominy) to make Ennui Chili from this site (which is mind-bogglingly good, btw.) It's the only place in town where I can find it. But if I shopped there much, I would become a victim of the terrible Sinsyer...that monster that lives in hipermarkets and follows you around whispering in  your ear, "Since you're here, you might as well get this/that/the other" and drives you into poverty.  ;D

The bulk barn sells organic raw cane sugar I believe. It's the kind I always buy...I know it's organic for sure, and I'm pretty sure it's unrefined (does that = raw? not sure, but it's not super fine)
