Hummus minus the chick peas?

I was curious, have any of you tried making hummus by substituting chick peas with some other type of bean?  I'm looking for good substitution ideas (allergy, yippie :-/ ) .  I like eating Greek salads with hummus on the side (for protein), it's such an easy dish that I don't want to lose.

I've heard of cannalinni beans (oh, goodness, I'm losing my ability to spell), haven't had a chance to try it yet, though (too cold for salads), but I'm open to other beans.

Aside: OK, baigan bharta = chole, hummus = babaganoush, any other chick pea to eggplant recipes out there?

There was a show on Food Network recently where she was making cheap treats for Superbowl Sunday. One of them was "blackbean hummus".

I love black bean hummus too! It whips up kind of pale lavendar, which is always a good conversation-starter. People freak a little until they taste it and then it's MMMMmmmm!

Hmmm, I just made black bean hummus from this site and didn't really care for it....I guess black beans are my 2nd least favorite bean....

Aw! Hope it wasn't my recipe you used!  :-\
Did you use canned, or home-cooked? Because home-cooked beans really do make a difference.

well, they were canned....I'm just not a huge fan of black beans, but I wanted a low fat hummus without tahini.  I can't find it now - so I don't know if it was yours.....the search isn't cooperating.

Oh, no, then it wasn't mine. It would definitely have tahineh in it if it were my recipe. Whew! *wipes sweat*  :-D
