Ham Hock Replacement

I need a ham hock replacement for a slow-cooked spanish bean soup I want to make. Any suggestions?
I thought maybe I could add extra kosher salt or sea salt to the recipe, maybe some veggie stock... I'm not sure.
Something that will add to the flavor of the soup, but not necessarily change the flavor too much.
