fruit salad

i never really liked fruit salad.  my mom would have it for breakfast every morning, it always made me more hungry.  but once i got used to its lack of starch like oatmeal, i enjoyed it.  now i eat it for breakfast, sometimes for dinner or a snack too!  mmmm.  bananas, apples, nectarines, dates, coconut, raw agave and raw cocao.

I LOVE putting agave in my fruit salad, it just bumps up the sweetness even more.  mmmm!  its kind of like a salad dressing, but for fruit salad.

mmmm

We love fruit salad at our house too.  We often have that as the center of a meal and add other stuff like sandwiches or muffins.

the fruit salad at the fancy french place i was working as a chef at had a secret to make it super yummy.. they would coat it in vanilla syrup.. if you cant get vanilla syrup just throw in a little vanilla extract and sweetener.. it instantly makes any fruit salad even better than it is to begin with :)

My mom always made our fruit salads with a splash of orange juice or pineapple juice, mainly to keep it from browning.  The fruit soaks up all the juice and it's SO yummy.

Today I made a fruit salad for lunch with a sprinkling of coconut shavings on top and some pineapple juice.  Yum.
