You are here

favorite pocket pita bread?

I am wondering if anyone has a tried-and-true favorite brand of whole wheat pita bread that is made in the pocket fashion that won't rip or fall apart easily if I try to stuff it with tabbouleh, bean salad, etc. All the ones I've tried tend to flake, rip, or be so thin once I've opened the pocket that my filling squirts out on me.

Thanks,
Leeyah

hi leeyah

i live in nz so cannot actually help you with pita bread brands but if you would like to try making your own, i have just posted my own recipe here on vegweb.  it's not hard to make.

Hmmm, that looks manageable, even for me.

I'm wicked good with a paring knife, but I usually manage to screw up royally all things involving an oven. Nevertheless, I will try it this weekend.

Does it keep pretty well in, say, a Ziplock bag? I don't have a freezer at the moment and only a very small fridge.

New Nealand, eh? I'd love to go there someday. I've heard it's beautiful.
