egg YOLK replacement?

ok, im making a banana cream pie, and im following an original recipe, replacing not vegan stuff with their vegan substitute (cause the banana cream pie recipe on modblog has some weird stuff that i cant find anywhere)
i have some egg replacer (like in powder you know, the one to which you add water and it makes up for an egg), but i was wondering what could replace the egg YOLK only. something kinda easy to find too, please :).
thank you
That's a good question. And when you find the answer to it, please let me know! There is this amazing, sweet yeast bread that I used to make every year for easter. It's a traditional recipe in my family, handed down from generation to generation. The problem is - it requires 10 (yes ten) egg yolks.
I have tried making it with every single egg substitute out on the market. Total disaster every single time. I've since given up on making it.
Little_Alex if you post the recipe it'd be easier to say.
;)
Ah ha... I looked up a basic recipe for banana cream pie... never made one ;) allergic to bananas!
It's a custard... so I'd say if '3 yolks' is what you're subbing you'll need 3 tablespoons of extra firm silken tofu and a tad more oil or butter for a richer flavor. But you'll probably also need to mix 1/2 t. of agar agar with the cold milk before you boil that.
Does that make sense with your recipe?
Sorry Ecstatic, that one won't work for your sweet egg bread. :( Is it like a Challah bread? http://www.theppk.com/recipes/dbrecipes/index.php?RecipeID=201
Ooo here's one without bananas...

It's called "babka" ... and it has raisins in it, plus orange rind. But the challah looks like the closest thing I have seen to a vegan version. Maybe I can adapt it to mine. Thank you! :)
