Cupcake/muffin question

Hi everyone!

I have a question about the rising of my cupcakes and muffins. Right now my muffin pan is silicone cups but the actual pan is metal and you can pop out the little cups. The problem is every time I use it, the muffins or cupcakes are always lopsided, growing tall on one side but short on the other. Its happened when each muffin cup is full and when some are not. When I was visiting my mom I used her stoneware muffin pan and my muffins came out perfect! Also the woman I work for has muffin pans that are just silicone and when I she bakes they are always perfect. So my question is it my muffin pan or is something I'm doing wrong in my baking?

thanks =)

Have you tried turning the pan halfway through baking?  This is totally a guess, but I was thinking it could be that the heat is uneven or the oven rack is not level.

It sounds like uneven heat distribution in your oven, or the placement of the oven rack as veggydog suggested.

Thanks for the replies! I'll try turning the pan and repositioning the oven rack =)
