Can you freeze store bought pasta sauce?

I know if it is not used after a week or so it gets moldy (at least for me).
Can I freeze it and later use it on pasta? Is the taste ok? Thanks.
Yeah, you can totally freeze it, but if you are freezing it in the glass jar that it came in, make sure you have eaten some of it first. It expands as it freezes and the jar will crack/explode in you freezer if there isn't enough room.
Def yes. I freeze pasta sauce all the time and it turns out just fine even with veggies in it.
thank you. I wasted many a jar cause I thought you couldn't.
Great question! I've placed half a jar in the freezer with no cracking/exploding issues. I've also double-baggied it, too. Both methods taste fine to me.
What method do you all use to thaw yours out when you're ready to use it? I can never plan ahead to leave it in the fridge the night before. I usually do the microwave or hot water, but it seems to take forever.
The best is to put it in the fridge the night before if you can remember 'cause it does take quite a while to defrost. If you are only cooking for yourself though it's really quick to freeze the sauce in a ziploc bag so that it's flat and thin, then you can break off and defrost just a small chunk.
I freeze my pasta in the jar it came in and move it to the refrigerator the night before I plan to use it.
Thanks for the Ziploc bag advice, and the exploding jar warning ... going to get the jar out of my freezer now.
I have kept many small plastic containers that at one time contained "store bought" foods. As long as they have a lid! (There's a lid-eating- monster in my kitchen!) The small ones are nice for freezing sauces or small amounts of whatever...and if square/rectangular, they also stack.
