Hello :)
With valentines day upon us and such my mom surprised me and bought be little pans shaped like ladybugs and hearts which are forkin adorable! I wanted to make little "lovebugs" and to decorate them, but im not sure where to begin with the decorations because ive only ever really frosted cupcakes before with a knife. Nothing too fancy. So what im asking is...
some frosting tips for a noob cake decorator
how would you decorate "lovebugs"
give me your best frosting recipes that you would use for this
Ill be running to the store tonight after I get some suggestions so I can whip them em ASAP.
I was thinking chocolate cake, pink icing? and then some decorations...
Your feedback is appreciated!
many cake decorations aren't vegan (they contain confectioners glaze aka bug secretion) but apparently you can find vegan cake decorations at Micheal's (craft store)...
also if you make your own frosting make sure to use sticks and not spread for the butter or your frosting will be drippy...i made that mistake before :(
some frosting at the grocery store is vegan according to: http://www.peta.org/accidentallyVegan/ if you don't feel like making it.

I would probably frost the cake a solid color first, then pipe in details with black. If you don't have a bag and tips, you can use a strong plastic baggie (I like the freezer type, they are thicker) and just nip the tinniest tip off to pipe out the frosting. Do a few practice squeezes to see if you need a bigger opening.
