Black Eye Peas that soaked too long

I was cleaning out my fridge early this morning and found some black eye peas soaking in the back. They were there at least 2 weeks. They aren't moldy or anything.
Do you think it's safe to cook them?
thanks

Um, beans are a protein so they have more of a chance of harboring and growing bacteria. After two weeks, even in a refrigerator they might be not safe. I'd dump them because their texture'll be likely off anyways and you can bypass getting sick JUST IN CASE!

Oh I say this because I soaked some chickpeas and lentils for 2 days and then threw them in a soup and got really sick and projectile vomitted...no fun!!

Funny, I just found some black beans that had pretty much the same story.  They don't smell bad or have anything weird growing on them; I was gonna cook them up and make some bb hummus (since y'all have been talking so much about it).  I'll let you know if it kills me  ;)

The last time I left beans soaking too long, they sprouted! So much for making chili...

The black beans are fine, as well as the babagahummus.  Although I did have an unrelated liquid smoke explosion in my kitchen.  Now I smell like a BBQ grill and Will tells me I tie-dyed myself.

I wouldn't eat them. But if you decide to, cook them at a high heat for at least ten minutes. That should kill the majority of the nasties, if there are any.
