Best Potluck Recipe?

Hi all, still rather new here and a bit overwhelmed with all the recipes. So perhaps you can help me narrow the field.

Do you have a favorite recipe on here for a great potluck dish? (Easy to transport, serves 8-12 people) Something especially that will impress a lot of omnis.

Looking forward to hearing your suggestions.

Thanks,
Sharon

If you don't mind either baking there or baking and reheating at the potluck place, AllyChristine's potato bake (http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=24587.60) is amaaaazing! You can easily modify the recipe to feed a billion people as long as you have a big enough dish. So easy and so yummy!

quinoa salad - quinoa, cucumber, etc.
pasta salad - onion, olives, bell pepper, etc. w/ Italian dressing
mixed bean salad - with taco topping ingredients (avocado, olives, tomato, etc.), plus some quinoa or a grain

We just had an appetizer vegan chef battle --> http://veganchefbattle.blogspot.com/

I recently had stromboli.  It was a little messy to eat, but that could probably be adjusted when rolling.  Trader Joe's sells pizza dough.  Roll some out, pour on pizza sauce and veggies (I'm thinking crimini mushrooms, artichokes, bell pepper, onion, etc.), roll it up, and bake it.  Somewhere online will tell you how long at what temp.

Or, make a dessert.  Vegan desserts are fabulous.

I will shamelessly plug my recipe for pasta salad - omnis love it, and it's easy to make!

I say it serves 5-6 but that's as a main dish - it can easily feed 8-10 as a side.

Every time this question comes up, I always post the same thing and folks here are sick of hearing it, but I highly recommend  this:

You need a pressure cooker, though, and you must follow the recipe (i.e., use powdered curry and not Thai chili paste, etc.).  I usually bring a pan of plain rice to accompany it.  Everyone always raves about it and it is always gone.

If you don't have a pressure cooker, though, and you want to make a stromboli, my sister in law makes a killer stromboli and I thought I posted the recipe here but I see I didn't.  Essentially, you take a bunch or two of broccoli rabe, blanch it in salted boiling water for a few minutes and then chop it up.  Saute it for a couple of minutes with some extra virgin olive oil and garlic.  I have made this with and without adding cooked tofurkey italian sausage (or you could use another Italian flavored crumble if you like).  Roll out your pizza dough in a rectangle, layer the filling onthe bottom 2/3 of the dough and roll the whole thing up and tuck the ends under. Bake at 375 for 20 to 25 minutes. My SIL is from Sicily and this is the way here family makes it and it is really great.  She never makes it with any kind of cheese since the cheese sort of disappears and doesn't really go with the taste of the broccoli rabe.

Layered bean dips are also great to bring to omni potlucks and there are a couple of good recipes on this site as well.
