Another Vegemite Post

Finally bought a tiny bottle of Marmite . . . . quite the interesting taste! Two questions here:
1. Do I need to refrigerate the bottle after opening it? I'm assuming not since it doesn't say I need to on the bottle.
2. For those of you raised with Marmite/Vegemite, exactly how was it introduced to you? Do you have M/V memories for as long as you can remember? Was it served to you on toast when you were a little baby? Or is it something you tried when you got older?
I like the fortification with the B vitamins and I'd like my kids to try it so I'm wondering how it is introduced to children in the Homeland of The Wiggles.
Thanks!
Tweety, do you have a World Market near where you live? That's where I finally found some. Wow, I'm surprised the marmite was saltier than the vegemite. I've read other people say it was the other way around. Well, I'm glad I picked up the marmite then! I just tried the vegemite yesterday spread thinly over some warm buttered bread. It was pretty good. I'm going to try to experiment and use it as a spread on different sandwiches.
Brucy, we don't have a world market here, but I'll keep my eyes out for some vegemite. The marmite was extremely salty to me, but I don't eat a lot of salty meals, so I can be sensitive to salty foods sometimes.
I probably wouldn't like that either then because I try to use salt sparingly as well. Too much salt makes me want to gag! :-X
I posted a recipe yesterday for Marmite toast w/ orange marmalade. Really good combo.
Sounds good CrazyTreeHugger. I still like Vegemite and broke down and got some from a seller on Amazon. So much better than marmite imo.

I'm a staunch advocate of marmite (vs. vegemite). I'd heard a rumour that vegemite, despite the name, is not vegetarian. So I looked it up and found out that the rumour is wrong; but I also learned that vegemite does not contain B12 like marmite does. Yay for what is anyway my flavourite! ;D
And, um, although this is a very old bumped thread, I just had to post in order to answer the OP's question number two... with an antique photo. 8)
