I noticed many vegwebbers are from cali like me... i live in southern cali but am willing to drive.... do any cali vegans want to have a potluck/get together? Anyone else would be welcome to come by the way... If we could get enough people together I would def be down.... please let me know I want to meet some fellow vegans!
This will be a dinner potluck ... so anything you can bring would be greatly appreciated. All are invited. Only thing I ask is that food be 100% vegan and gluten-free so everyone can enjoy.
I have a good size kitchen so if you need to use my stove, microwave, mixer or refrigerator for any dish preparation that would be fine.
Which of the following would you like to bring? I'll note so we can have a good balance of dishes.
1) Salad
2) Main dish
3) Side dish
4) Dessert
i could do a dessert and bring a side dish (still haven't decided what) if that's cool
That sounds good to me. I haven't decided either, but I'm thinking of maybe a soup or stew or something, some warm comfort food.
hanashi r u coming? hey saskia is it okay if my boyfriend comes?
Sure Amy! Bring your boyfriend too. There is no one I wouldn't want there. What is his name?
So far it looks like there will be more or less 8-10 people coming over for the Vegan(mostly Gluten-Free) Post-Holiday Potluck.
Anyone else I should include? All are welcome. I just need to know how many so I can have enough chairs, plates, etc. set up.
The menu so far:
Tofu Vegetable Loaf
Chile Vegetable Tamales
Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
Black Beans
Tortillas
Pumpkin Cheesecake
his name is erik... warning though we will both probably be tired since we both work overnight tonight but i can't wait to meet u!
No worries if you are tired. Just come over, relax and enjoy good food and company. I can't wait to meet you too.
Recap?
yes, recap! :)
i am really bummed because i didn't end up going... worked overnight on christmas, someone called in sick so i had to stay on overtime and was sooooo tired their was no way i could get myself up on time :(... i hope it went well but i don't think any vegwebbers showed up... christmas time is always so busy and stressful it sucks... i hope it went well though
Sorry we missed you. Food and meeting new friends was a lot of fun. There were 7 of us, including Hanashi(here on VegWeb) who brought some amazing dishes! I wish I had taken photos of the food. Most folks were from Orange County(Brea). I had one friend visiting from San Francisco. Another guest from Eagle Rock.
Everything was delicious, vegan and gluten-free.
The final menu:
Appetizers:
Mixed Vegetables Seasoned in Olive Oil and Spices
Chips and Cilantro Lime Salsa
Raw Vegetables with Agave Dill Dip
Raw almonds, peanuts, dates, cranberries and blueberries
Dinner:
Spicy Black Bean/Quinoa Enchilada Casserole
Chile Vegetable Tamales
Roasted Sweet Potatoes
Corn on the Cob
Grilled Pear and Yam
Dessert
Sweet Baked Apple, Cherry and Cranberry Quinoa
Fruit Nut Chews
Tea and Canela Coffee
If anyone wants to carry the torch, we should definitely do another So. Cal meet-up.
pics!
I can't believe I didn't take any pictures. I was so focused on food and conversation that I forgot.
I share the blame as well. I even brought a camera with the intention of taking pics, but it just didn't occur....sorry
We'll have to do something for Northern/Central. I'm in Yolo Couny near Sacramento.

If I happen to be in town for the Norcal meetup, I'm definitely in!
