Oh and I checked at work, unfortunately I will not be able to get friday afternoon off as we're only allowed about 4 people off at any one time and there's already more than that off for that day!
My flight up is super early - I'll arrive in Welly at 7:30am Friday. Does that work for you, shell? :) If not, I know the public transport there pretty well, and can figure something out.
crap, that's not good for me - I leave the house at 7.30am to get to work. I can give you directions to our house on public transport and leave a key somewhere for you, if you're ok with letting yourself in and making yourself at home.
I normally get home by about 5pm ish, but maybe theo will be able to get time off so you're not on your own all day.
I'll message you / facebook you nearer the time to let you know where we'll leave the key.

Sweeeeet. I'd be happy with either letting myself in, or hanging with theo, or even hanging in Welly on my own. I'll only have a carry-on bag to tote around, so it's cool.

sorry heli, I don't usually check the interwebs at home during the week, and had a hell night yesterday where I didn't get home till after 10:30 anyway....
Did you get my email with the ticket info in it? If you did, I'll forward you my bank stuff to your email address, anytime today or tomorrow or whatever is fine though : )
Also, as we haven't booked yet, we'll either be arriving during the day on Friday or on Thursday evening . We'll be staying with my brother and his fiancee but as they will be at work on Friday we will probably be available for some hanging out during the day as well : )

No calling in sick? That probably would look sketchy. As soon as I master teleportation abilities, oww said she'd get me a $4 ticket. ;)
no unfortunately no calling in sick....I've just found out I'll be working at an out of the way hospital at that point in time, and while no one would know if I turnedup or not (I'll be the only pharmacist there) I would also be letting all the drs and patients down because I'll be the only pharmacist there.
so, I still haven't seen any good flights, and I've done the maths and now am leaning very heavily towards road trippin' it.
Other than the fact that it's a rubbish time of year to take a road trip in a car with no heater, I love driving down the country, and it's certainly looking cheaper at the moment!
But that will mean we'll only get into town on Friday evening, so we won't be able to play with Heli and Theo during the day : /
I thought you got $4 flights? Was that for something else? I'm lost...
not that it makes any difference to me, but crap, that sucks arse.
how long will it actually take to drive it? Doesn't that mean that Sunday would also be spent driving? Blergh!
PS Theo - the $4 were for September.
haha, it's not a bad thing, I love driving! And I haven't road-tripped to Wellington since 2006, when I did it three times in six months. It's only ~8 hours, but yeah, that will mean having to leave early-ish on Sunday, but the best deal flight I could find for that weekend was an early Sunday morning one anyway .
If something good comes up in the next few weeks then I'll buy them, but I also just figured out school holidays start on that Friday, which is probably why there haven't been any good reduced fares for that weekend.
