Taking suggestions, recipe testers, etc. for a new weight loss book!

Hi lovely vegwebbers! :)

I've been thinking of what my next book will be & it's looking like a weight loss book. I came up w/ lots of recipe ideas today to experiment with & thought I'd mention that I always LOVE and WELCOME feedback & suggestions...

SO, for those of you who watch your weight (or have other health related concerns), are there any recipes  or topics you'd like to see covered in a book?

Thanks in advance for any ideas! :)>>>

p.s. I'd love recipe testers & picture-takers too, if it's something you would enjoy doing & not find cumbersome!

I'm a new vegan and overweight. If eating a healthy, vegan diet means I lose the extra weight, so much the better! I'm a working Mom of two young girls with a long commute. I'd like to see recipes of quick, healthy recipes.

I'm more than happy to test them and take photos! I have an obsession of taking photos of food, so I'd love to have an excuse to actually do it. LOL

Sure, NLveganmama. The recipes are perfect for weight loss & taste good too - a combo for lifelong motivation in my experience. If you think you'd test several of the recipes & give feedback/take pics, I'd love to have you on board.

Simply reply or message me your e-mail address & I'll add you.
Thanks! :)

Am I too late to get your recipes to test??  I'm new on this site.

Thanks!

How many recipes do you think you'd test over the next two weeks, Mab6789? I'm also starting a big testing group for my 2-week weight loss plan that involves the new recipes (& many of my other recipes from my 1st book). Let me know what you think!

Following on from HH, what about soy-free or gluten-free dishes? Seitan and tofu might make for good lean protein, but those of us who can't eat one or the other are a little screwed.

Fun! I'm at a pretty good weight but... may I test the 2-week weight loss plan to see if I lose/gain/stay the same?? I will write a testimonial (if it doesn't go completely awry) lol!

Narcissus, beans are an ideal concentrated protein, as they're a whole food. Obviously, they're also soy and gluten free (aside from soybeans, obviously). I don't use much seitan myself - I like it when I eat out at veg restaurants, but I don't think my body wants it too often.

Curlyq1462, we're starting Sunday! It's going to be a really fun group. So far, a few dozen people are going to do it...which is great, because the more success stories the better! However, if you don't have ANY health issues, eat a healthy vegan diet, are at your perfect weight, and have lots of energy/feel great you may not need it! But you'd still be welcome to check it out for sure. Let me know what you think.

True; I may not make for a compelling success story. But I want to join in!

Sure, you're still welcome to! You can give me your e-mail address & I'll send you the info & details.

Thanks!! :)

Can you send me details too? I'm at a good weight but have a couple omni/vegan-curious friends who are trying to lose weight. I'm hoping they will consider a vegan lifestyle.

Saskia, do you have my book? The plan is in there. And if not, you'll find a basic idea of the plan w/ some recipes on my website if you peek inside the book here: http://www.radianthealth-innerwealth.com/newbook.html

I love how many non-vegan people are in this group doing the vegan cleanse!!! :)

Thanks, Tess. Yes, I have your book. I was confused ... thought this was a new plan with your new book.  Happy to share your website and pass along to the omnis of the world. :)

Good question...it is an updated-ish version of the plan from RHIW. It's basically the same w/ a few modifications such as more set meal times.
Thanks again! :)

I would be interesting in getting in on this if it isn't too late.  Going vegan helped me lose about 80 pounds.  Unfortunately, stress, pregnancy, divorce, switching to a desk job, and MORE stress has put the weight back on.  I'm serious about going back to the size I was, and I have a lot of weight to loose.

I do not like cookbooks that are full of commercial mock meats and cheeses, which your recipes don't have.  I'm not really sure how to word this, but seeing that it is just my daugter and I here, I would love a cookbook that would allow the same basic recipes to be served both for weightloss but then be altered a little to meet the needs of a slender, rapidly-growing vegan toddler.  Getting serious about weight loss is new for me (it was easy the first time), and so far I've been trying to fix nutrient dense meals that are low in calories and then add more grains to her portions and feed her nuts with her snacks.  I know being vegan makes her diet healthier than her school-breakfast/lunch-program-diet plus McDonald's friends, but I want to get it right.  I have tried several of your recipes and can't wait to get your book which I ordered earlier this week.

Oh, great, Lbarte! Did you get the book yet?

I'd love to have you on board w/ the weight loss plan. I can also give you access to my recipe testing site (where peeps are helping me test recipes for my new weight loss book) which will give you even more options for the 2-wk plan.

Pls. give me your e-mail address & I'll get you all set up on both blogs. I'm answering questions there & doing the plan along with everyone! We officially start Sunday.

p.s. So glad you're enjoying my recipes, thanks for letting me know! You'll enjoy the kid-friendly recipes & menu suggestions in my book too, hopefully! I'm a single mama too. :)

I'm excited to use this as a kick start to getting my body back!  I've been vegan for nearly a decade, but I'm embarrassed to say I have about 80 pounds to lose.  I just got in the habit of not really cooking like I should.  I know it will take some time, but I got to start somewhere.  My e-mail address is

I haven't received the book yet, but it should be here soon.  Caitlin eats just about anything, so I don't really have to worry about things being "kid-friendly" unless her friends come over.  I'm generally more picky than she is, but I was raised eating hamburger and white flour for almost every meal.  She's been eating real food from the start.

The thing I like about your recipes (as far as I have seen) is that they don't use commercial mock-meats/cheeses/whatever.  I have been dissapointed by many highly regarded books because of this.  If I wanted to buy fake meat and cheese (which isn't really available here) I'm just use my old family recipes.  Sorry to rant, but it drives me nuts.

Don't be embarrased, I was way overweight for most of my 20s, also while being vegan! You can eat a lot of french fries, vegenaise, and cake as a vegan (or at least I can!).

You lucky duck - I wish my daughter ate everything i made! She's way picky, but getting better.

I agree, fake meats to me are not health food. Fake cheese either, although I suggest it for a few things (like my "Luscious Lasagna") but I don't use it very often. I mainly try to stick w/ whole foods.

I'll e-mail you now w/ some questions & details....
Thanks so much! :)

Are you inquiring about the recipes or 2-week weight loss plan?

I haven't been around for a while... family issues. But things have finally begun to settle down and I would be very interested in your 2 week weight loss plan if you still need testers. :) I need to lose about 20 lbs.
